Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an educational recruitment firm, is currently seeking an experienced Math Specialist at an independent school in Washington D.C.
The school is seeking a candidate who infuses the joy of mathematics and sparks an appreciation for productive struggle in work with all students. An educator and role models who bring joy and good humor to our classrooms, fields, and offices, work collaboratively with colleagues, seek and respond to student feedback, and commit to reflective practice and continual growth.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate mathematical concepts using models, other available technology methods, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
- Attend regular department, faculty, and other meetings.
- Promote an inclusive working and community environment.
- Evaluate each pupil’s progress in mathematical knowledge and skills.
- Vertically align coursework to provide students with a meaningful scope.
- Communicate with parents to interpret contemporary methods in teaching mathematics and with parents and school counselors to discuss the individual pupil’s progress.
- Bridges curriculum with an ability to adjust appropriately to allow for differentiation, in consultation with the Math Coordinator and the other Math Specialist.
- Comfortable using online texts, iPads, Learning Management System, and computer systems.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Mathematics
- At least 1-3 years of teaching experience at the K-12 level
- Flexible, willing to learn, and a collaborative team member with an emphasis on supporting students and teachers in their learning.
- Eager to work collaboratively with colleagues on curriculum design, pedagogy, and assessments.
- Interest to contribute to school community outside of the classroom as an athletic coach, student advisor, student club leader, or otherwise preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
