What you will do as a Material Developer:
Ensure timely delivery of fabrics and materials
Develop and implement reliable fabric and test methods
Manage fabric supplier relationships to control costs and prioritize new products
Collaborate with Design and Purchasing to track and report production, quality, compliance, and costs
Cultivate vendor relationships to improve turnaround, quality, and cost
Process fabric orders accurately and promptly
Improve product quality and find cost-effective alternatives
Identify and implement future material technologies and trends
Organize and maintain the material library
Engage effectively with key fabric and material suppliers
Anticipate problems, offer solutions, and meet aesthetic and financial goals
Create lab test procedures and processes
What you need to be a Material Developer:
High school diploma required; degree in materials, product development
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PLM software
Strong ability to adhere to deadlines and deliver accurate, quality data on time
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed, sometimes with little notice
Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear, both in person and by telephone
Frequent use of hands to operate standard office equipment
Ability to reach with hands and arms and lift up to 25 pounds
