What you will do as a Material Developer:

  • Ensure timely delivery of fabrics and materials
  • Develop and implement reliable fabric and test methods
  • Manage fabric supplier relationships to control costs and prioritize new products
  • Collaborate with Design and Purchasing to track and report production, quality, compliance, and costs
  • Cultivate vendor relationships to improve turnaround, quality, and cost
  • Process fabric orders accurately and promptly
  • Improve product quality and find cost-effective alternatives
  • Identify and implement future material technologies and trends
  • Organize and maintain the material library
  • Engage effectively with key fabric and material suppliers
  • Anticipate problems, offer solutions, and meet aesthetic and financial goals
  • Create lab test procedures and processes


What you need to be a Material Developer:

  • High school diploma required; degree in materials, product development
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PLM software
  • Strong ability to adhere to deadlines and deliver accurate, quality data on time
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed, sometimes with little notice
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear, both in person and by telephone
  • Frequent use of hands to operate standard office equipment
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms and lift up to 25 pounds
