Materials Manager

Our client is an independent, privately owned specialty chemical manufacturing company.

Job Summary:

Must have a strong background in manufacturing and will have already held a management position in a production environment. This is a safety-minded business with no compromise on quality. You will be responsible for assisting in the achievement of the company’s delivery and financial targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversees activities related to the planning of material, material control, inventory control, shipping/receiving and stores functions.
• Partners with Procurement and Operations for the efficient movement of materials for production.
• May prepare material requirement plans using enterprise resource planning systems.
• Overseeing the management of the inventory function/stock control department to ensure raw material and product is receipted, located, stored, and transferred correctly and the company’s stock inventory is accurate.
• Reviews purchase order creation and manages production order process to ensure demand is satisfied on time and on budget. Confers with corporate procurement, vendors and production supervision to resolve problems affecting production schedules.
• Participates in monthly Demand forecasting meetings with sales, category management, and other related departments; leads additional planning meetings with sales, production, shipping, purchasing, and customer service staff as needed.
• Conduct material shortage meetings, and material review boards (MRBs) and play a key role in Production Meetings.
• Responsible for adhering to and promoting Company policy in relation to EHS and sustainability.
• Establishing root cause and implementing corrective actions for large or frequent cycle count adjustments.
• Control aging finished goods inventory.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of production/manufacturing experience
• Master’s degree and at least 1 year of production/manufacturing experience
• At least 5 years of production/manufacturing experience
• Must have a strong understanding of Master Planning, Scheduling Strategies, Warehousing, and Inventory control practices.
• Must have experience in SAP.
