Position: Materials Engineer


Position Type: 3-6+ months


Location: Fully Onsite in the Boston area


Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Materials Engineer to join our client's team. In this role, you will conduct research, evaluate materials, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative products. Your expertise will drive material selection, testing, quality assurance, and process improvement, ensuring our products meet the highest standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and Development: Conduct research on new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to develop innovative consumer products.
  • Material Selection and Evaluation: Analyze the properties, performance, and behavior of various materials to determine suitability for different applications.
  • Testing and Characterization: Plan and execute material testing procedures, including mechanical, thermal, electrical, and chemical analysis. Interpret test results and provide detailed technical reports.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure materials meet required standards and specifications.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize material production and manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and enhance product performance.
  • Collaboration: Work with design engineers, industrial designers, quality/manufacturing engineers, and suppliers to provide technical expertise and support in material selection and application development.
  • Materials Database Management: Maintain and update a comprehensive materials database, including specifications, properties, and performance data.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Stay updated with industry regulations and standards related to materials, safety, and environmental concerns, ensuring adherence to relevant guidelines.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to effectively communicate research findings, project updates, and recommendations.


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Textiles/Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a related field. A Master's or Ph.D. in Materials Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in textiles/materials engineering or a related field. Proficiency with characterization techniques and testing is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using materials testing equipment, data analysis software, and simulation tools.
  • Problem-solving Abilities: Ability to analyze complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
