The Material Manager is responsible for the operational management of materials, ensuring the timely and cost-effective purchasing, storage, and distribution of materials required for production and operations. This role involves coordinating with various departments, managing supplier relationships, and overseeing inventory management to optimize the supply chain and support business objectives.

  • Sets ABC cycle counts.
  • Train and manage Material Coordinators and Manufacturing Coordinators in multiple locations
  • Multi-site Inventory and Materials strategy capabilities
  • Collaborate with scheduling and supply chain to ensure internal customer (Production) has materials, and inventory to meet production schedules.
  • Manages Inventory
    • By location
    • Inter-company usage
    • Kanban/MinMax/Seasonal strategies
    • Dollars on hand and turns
    • Excess and Obsolete
  • MRP Super User
    • Understands Journal Entries
    • Parameters
    • Reporting
    • Able to recognize and identify when Supply Chain and production schedules are behind.
    • Troubleshoot basic issues and recommend solutions.
  • Executes Materials Strategies
  • Partners with Materials Director and Master Scheduler on forecast outlook preparedness.
  • Elevated level of understanding of flow and in-process procedures.
  • Fosters a collaborative and efficient working environment.
  • Identify material cost savings opportunities and implement cost reduction initiatives.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of Quality Management or Engineering. Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

 

  •  LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  •  MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  •  REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels from high-speed computer printers and other peripherals. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to various worksites may also be required, depending on the assignment.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Travel requirements for this position will vary according to the location of the fabrication efforts. Travel is expected to be 20%.
