Director of Marketing (Short-Term Contract)


Robert Half’s educational client is seeking a creative and experienced Director of Marketing on a short-term basis. This position will lead and execute a data-driven programming and product marketing strategy for our student leadership programs. The ideal candidate is data-driven, results-oriented, and thrives in a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Note that this role is temporary and focuses on maintaining and executing existing strategies rather than developing new long-term plans.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Maintain and execute existing marketing strategies and campaigns to promote our offerings, including membership, events, online stores, and other programming.
  • Oversee ongoing market research efforts to identify trends and opportunities for growth, efficiencies, and new audiences.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in marketing, utilizing this knowledge to inform ongoing marketing strategies.
  • Oversee the organization's digital marketing efforts, including website management, email marketing, SEO, SEM, and social media campaigns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continually enhance the user experience and conversion rate optimization of the online stores.
  • Oversee the development and distribution of all marketing materials, including digital, print, and social media content.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a consistent brand, message, and user experience across all marketing channels and campaigns.
  • Coach and develop four marketing team members towards achieving organizational strategic goals and personal professional goals.
  • Manage marketing operations, including management of external vendors (e.g., data services, digital consultants, printing and production, etc.).
  • Engage in transition support; work closely with the outgoing Director of Marketing and Managing Director of Growth Strategy to understand ongoing projects, priorities, and key responsibilities.
  • Prioritize key projects and campaigns to ensure seamless execution during the transition period.
  • Prepare documentation to include open projects and review with Managing Director of Growth Strategy to facilitate the swift re-engagement of the Director of Marketing upon their return.


Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • 6+ years of marketing experience, communications, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns for non-profit organizations or similar industries.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing channels and platforms, including social media, email marketing, SEO, SEM, and web analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience collecting, analyzing, and leveraging data to inform strategy development and decision-making.
  • Experience setting, measuring, and meeting key performance indicators.
  • Proven track record of creative, analytical, and strategic thinking, with a focus on achieving measurable results.
  • Experience in managing and developing a team of marketing professionals preferred.
  • Experience with association management software (AMS) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field required.
