Marketing Communications Manager

Marcom Manager role can help the university transform lives and reach our 1 million students' goal by developing and implementing student communication strategies and plans that enhance the student experience and promote the university's initiatives and goals.


University of the People is seeking a dynamic, collaborative and innovative Marcom Manager to join our Retention and Student Experience team. This role requires a creative and strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a passion for education.

The Marcom Manager will be responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing all marketing and communications efforts aimed at students across the university and will work in partnership with the analytics team and VP to define, measure, and achieve key business objectives including engagement, retention, and revenue growth.


Key Responsibilities:

Marketing Strategy Development:

  • Create and execute comprehensive, results-oriented communication strategies to engage current and prospective students, while continuously seeking opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of marketing and communication efforts.
  • Create and manage communication campaigns across various channels including email automation platforms, social media, portal, LMS, and online events.


Communication Management:

  • Develop and distribute high-quality content for student communications, ensuring consistency and alignment with the university's brand.
  • Oversee communication channels to ensure timely and effective information delivery to students, while staying current with industry trends and best practices in marketing and communications.
  • Direct and coach a small team, providing constructive feedback and supporting career advancement.


Content Creation:

  • Manage the creation of content across all mediums, with hands-on creative involvement. Produce engaging and informative content for program advising, social media posts, and other communication materials.
  • Collaborate with the design team to create visually appealing graphics and multimedia content.

Student Engagement:

  • Plan and execute online events, round tables and activities that foster student engagement and enhance the student experience.
  • Manage and produce surveys and gather feedback to understand student needs and improve engagement strategies.
  • Create initiatives that encourage student participation in university events, clubs, and online forums.


Analytics and Reporting:

  • Monitor and analyze the performance of marketing campaigns and communication initiatives.
  • Prepare and present reports on campaign performance, student engagement metrics, and other relevant data to inform decision-making.


Key Competencies:

  • Strong leader and strategic thinker with the ability to work collaboratively across a matrixed organization and partner with external vendors.
  • Experience in leading and managing a marketing team as well as with efficient management of outside marketing resources.
  • Must possess a natural orientation toward creative problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and executive-level presentation skills are a requisite.
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles and communication strategies.
  • Proficiency in using digital marketing tools and email automation platforms.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with students, staff, and external partners.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms (e.g. email marketing software, social media management tools).
  • Proven experience in a Marcom leadership role with a track record of scaling for high growth.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Marketing preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience directly leading a team
  • English native speaker- A MUST
  • Experience working effectively in a team / matrix environment.
