The Marketing & Communications Manager is a full-time marketing role with a golf industry start-up that’s based in Chicago. It’s preferred that the candidate be local to Chicago, IL or Cleveland, OH, but can be remote. 


The person who will be best at this role and will succeed at this role keenly understands the golfer who consumes a large amount of golf content and looks to play as much as possible. This role requires a golf mindset, and can tap into a golfer’s golf desires, emotions, and needs. 


This person can also connect our NewClub story of why we exist to those golfer’s needs so they join our community. They also understand how to cultivate a community through clear and accurate communication of club announcements, messages, and long-form content. 


This person has amazing design and writing skills to produce content and material that speaks to the golf-obsessed audience. They also truly must have incredible organizational skills to balance all the needs of a startup, knowing that a marketing role always wears a lot of hats.


The best personality for this role and company is optimistic and positive, one that can be pushed to continual improvement, understands the excitement, grind, and ups and downs of a startup, and doesn’t back down from solving any problem. 


Required skills/qualifications:

  • 5+ years marketing experience
  • Ability to successfully work independently/remotely
  • Outstanding interpersonal/team working skills
  • Excellence with marketing and social media tools
  • Outstanding writing, communication, design skills
  • Incredible organizational skills
  • Self-sufficient, entrepreneurial spirit who can thrive in a startup environment


Preferred qualifications:

  • A seasoned, experienced golfer (at any skill level)
  • Experience with golf content generation
  • Familiarity with existing golf content, professional golf, the golf industry


How you’ll be marketing to golfers:

  • Have a deep understanding of the golf consumer and identifying golfers who would fit as a NewClub member
  • Communications to NewClub members to book tee times and golf trips
  • Marketing to prospective members to get them to join the club
  • Creating beautiful content to show why it’s great to be a member of NewClub and capture what it’s like playing at our events
  • Creating seasonal/timely campaigns to connect with golfers at the right moments
  • Accurately measuring performance to optimize campaigns and messaging
  • Utilizing email, websites, mobile apps, push notifications, social media posts/reels/shorts, texts, and any other means of marketing


Marketing tools/skills required to succeed in the job:

  • Mailchimp
  • All social media apps/content creation platforms
  • Streak
  • HTML/CSS
  • Canva/Photoshop
  • Squarespace
  • Soundcloud/Riverside/podcast software
  • Google Forms/Typeform
  • Golf Genius
  • Slack
  • Google Sheets/Excel


Marketing tools that would take NewClub to the next level:

  • Adobe Premiere Pro/video editing tools
  • Google Analytics/web analytics tools
  • Split-testing tools
  • Google ad platforms/Pmax
  • Meta ad campaign tools
