Marketing Associate

We are looking for a proactive and passionate Marketing Associate to join our team at Poisoned Pen Press and Sourcebooks Landmark. This role is ideal for someone with 1-2 years of experience in publicity or digital marketing, ideally within the publishing industry. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in promoting our authors and books through strategic publicity campaigns, author events, and digital marketing initiatives, including advertising, social media, email marketing, and influencer partnerships.

This is a hybrid entry level, non-exempt position $21.00 - $22.00 and required to be in office 3 days/week in Naperville.

What you'll do:

• Plan and execute publicity campaigns to generate maximum exposure for our titles across traditional and digital media channels
• Organize author events and book tours and help facilitate festival and conference engagements
• Assist in digital marketing efforts, including social media management, influencer outreach, ARC (Advance Reader Copy) and finished copy mailings, advertising campaigns, and email marketing
• Act as the primary liaison between authors, agents, editors, and the sales team, effectively communicating publicity and marketing strategies for each book
• Serve as a passionate advocate for our books internally, championing their success and ensuring alignment across departments
  
  

What you'll bring:

• 1-2 years of experience in publicity, author event planning, or digital marketing, ideally within the publishing industry
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate strategies and engage effectively with stakeholders
• Proven ability to multitask and manage projects independently while adhering to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with social media platforms, digital advertising, and email marketing tools
• A genuine passion for books and a keen understanding of current trends in publishing and digital media
