“The Production Manager – CNC Machining is a key management position reporting to the Director of Operations. The Production Manager is responsible for maintaining CNC Machining operations and interacting with the Supply Chain, Engineering and Quality departments to ensure daily, weekly and long-term plans are executed against.”
Monitor Key Performance Indicators for Safety, Quality, Production and Cost within the CNC department, ensuring objectives are met and continuous improvement is sustained.
Monitor the Critical Material Escalation list for delivery risks and when required, expedite specific jobs escalating resource constraints and process gaps. Work with Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain to coordinate recovery efforts.
Work with Supply Chain and the Director of Operations to review shop capacity developing plans to relieve capacity constraints when required.
Monitor production performance of operators and provide direction and coaching as needed.
Facilitate the Tier 1 Gemba meeting and participate in the Tier 2 Gemba meeting reporting out
Work with the Director of Operations to establish a plan for apprentice development and a product/process cross training matrix ensuring execution against these plans.
Oversee the daily production activity to ensure that jobs and projects are on schedule.
Assist operators in resolving quality problems at the machine.
Assist operators in root cause analysis and developing countermeasures.
Encourage operators to make improvements in their ways of working and to suggest process manufacturing improvements.
Resolve personnel issues as needed.
Manage time clock and attendance issues.
Work closely with the Director of Operations to drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, capacity and capability, while reducing lead times, cycle times and manufacturing cost-per-unit.
Work with industrial and process engineers to facilitate SMED activities and implement set up reductions.
Ensure participation in developing and sustaining 5S within the CNC area.
Work with with other stakeholders including, but not limited to other Production Managers, Engineering Manager, Program Managers (NPI), Quality Manager, Production Control Supervisor, Controller, Director of HR.
Qualification and Education requirements
Must have CNC precision component machining experience
10 years of related experience with 5 years of supervisory experience
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to think analytically and solve problems
Inspired to perform well by the ability to contribute to the success of a project or the organization
