Manual Machine Loader & Unloader, 1st Shift

We are searching for hard-working individuals to join our team as Manual Machine Loader & Unloader, in this role you will come in as an IAF team member to one of our Heat Treatment, Or Plating manufacturing areas. In this role you will load, unload machines, so they operate correctly to produce excellent quality fasteners. Current openings are primarily on 1st Shift. Shift hours include: 6:30am to 3:00pm

  • **Starting wage for this position is $21.00 hr.

Job Summary

Completing an initial training period on a day shift for 6 to 15 weeks will be required.

Team Members are responsible for loading and unloading furnaces or plating lines, problem-solving, making decisions on machine adjustments, inspecting parts, manually load & unload machines, or pick and pack fasteners.

Primary Job Duties And Responsibilities

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:

  • Run orders per product specifications and standard practices. This may include sorting, labeling, and packaging products per customer specifications, quality requirements, and standard practices.
  • Perform tests and check products routinely for multiple characteristics using standard measuring tools, calipers, micrometers etc.
  • Understand and implement quality standards and procedures.
  • Meet production schedules and program production sequences for optimal productivity.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and specifications or instructions of higher-level technical personnel and monitor meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications.
  • Maintain production records and logs of equipment and product performance.
  • Maintain work area with necessary supplies to complete processes- 4S+ standard work.
  • Operate heavy equipment necessary to move, load, and ship material and/or finished products throughout the manufacturing environment.
  • Support inventory accuracy by completing cycle counts and correct discrepancies to achieve business goals.
  • Assist and support other team members in meeting department and site goals.
  • Contribute and participate in team decision making processes including problem solving and continuous improvement efforts. Provide support in project work and other special requests.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Other duties maybe assigned.

What We’ll Do Together.

Here at Indiana Automotive Fasteners, we produce excellent quality fasteners from start to finish. We operate from coil wire being brought in from our suppliers for our cold forming heading process, to our thread rolling process, the fasteners then go to our heat treatment process where it changes the molecule structure of the fasteners, then the fasteners would be going to our plating lines which are barrel sink (electro plating) or our geomat coding to prevent rust prevention. As a tool room repair team member, you would play a big role in our cold forming, and thread rolling process. You will repair the tooling for those areas for IAF to maintain make good fasteners for our customers.

What You’ll Need

  • Six months of related experience and or training, one- year certificate from a college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good Communication skills
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instruction.
  • Must prioritize safety in every aspect of the working environment adhering to established safety practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests, including weekends (Sat/Sun)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be okay working in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
  • Ability to climb 3 to 5 steps repetitive.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals/documentation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups. Computer programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite, are regularly used to communicate and gather information. Fluent in English. Japanese as a second language is helpful.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Desire to proactively and collaboratively work toward solutions with cross-functional team input.
