etf.com is looking for a Managing Editor to join our growing editorial team. The goal of this role is to edit and manage daily copy flow for etf.com and help the Editor-in-Chief manage the editorial team. The Managing Editor will help plan and produce various forms of content for publication.
The Managing Editor reports directly to the Editor-in-Chief and will help guide the team during a period of anticipated growth. The position will track and edit daily articles from the writing staff and be charged with ensuring articles are filed in a timely manner by writers. The role will also oversee the quantity of all content published onsite and make sure daily requirements are achieved. The Managing Editor will also help to improve the quality of editorial copy and all work done on etf.com platforms, among other editorial projects and strategic initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strategic vision and an ability to think holistically about editorial content, both in day-of news and in planning content. The ideal applicant will also have a strong writing/editorial/journalistic background and a proven track record of editing high-quality, timely and relevant content in a fast-paced newsroom.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate with writers (freelance and full-time) to track, edit and publish daily editorial flow
Upload and post content from writers into CMS, including contributors and columnists
Manage the distribution of daily and weekly newsletters
Coordinate with writers, editors, photographers to meet deadlines
Contribute to the production process of all content (site, newsletters, podcasts, etc.)
Develop best practices to optimize the editing process
Pitch and produce new types of content for the site
Think strategically about editorial content in near and long-terms on etf.com
Copy edit and maintain the standards of etf.com style
Use SEO and data tools to track and optimize story performance and headlines
Manage strategic projects and initiatives
Requirements:
7-plus years of editorial experience, including management level
Deep understanding of the ETF industry strongly preferred
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust to project goals
Experience optimizing content for SEO & tagging stories
