About The Role

We are looking for a Managing Director to lead our tax advisory practice and provide strategic guidance to our clients on complex tax matters. You will be responsible for developing and executing tax strategies, managing client relationships, overseeing tax engagements, and mentoring tax professionals. You will also play a key role in expanding our tax advisory services and growing our market share in the private equity sector.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead and manage tax advisory engagements for multi-generational family groups, hedge funds, trusts, estates, and partnerships clients, including tax due diligence, tax structuring, tax compliance, and tax controversy
  • Manage the financial performance and profitability of the tax advisory practice
  • Supervise, coach, and develop tax professionals and foster a collaborative and high-performance culture
  • Stay abreast of current tax developments and trends and provide thought leadership and insights to clients and the firm, both in the US and abroad
  • Client Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects, and referral sources, both in the US and abroad
  • Provide expert advice on tax implications of mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, and other transactions, both domestic and international
  • Review potential transactions for clients and advise on strategy

Technical Expertise

  • Develop and implement tax strategies that align with the business objectives and value drivers of our clients, considering the global tax environment and regulations

Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and cross-selling opportunities within the firm, both in the US and abroad

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; Master's degree or CPA preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience in a Top 10 public accounting firm, Big 4 advisory firm, or private equity firm, with significant exposure to international tax matters
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in tax advisory services for individual and private trust clients, including tax due diligence, tax structuring, tax compliance, and tax controversy, both domestic and international
  • Strong technical skills and ability to research and resolve complex tax issues, both domestic and international (specifically the Cayman Islands)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities in the global market
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse and talented team
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Ability to work at/either or our Oak Brook (IL), New York (NY), Beverly Hills/San Francisco (CA), Austin (TX), or Charlotte (NY) offices, 2-3 days a week.
