No. 29 is seeking a Managing Director of Fashion PR to oversee the agency’s fashion division with the cofounders. This requires a candidate with big picture thinking, high level strategy, and a deep understanding of the fashion calendar and industry. In this role, you will lead and execute on client strategy, serve as the main point of contact for clients, and manage and collaborate with No. 29’s fashion directors, associates, and cofounders.
The position requires a candidate with extensive fashion PR experience; a robust network of journalists and tastemakers; excellent pitch-writing, story ideation and execution; and the ability to conceptualize and oversee events and press trips (with an eye towards coverage). You must have a background in launches and seeding products—where relevant—to tastemakers and influencers.
In addition to very strong PR experience and writing skills, you must bring your own contacts in the fashion and lifestyle space and be ready to build new relationships. These contacts should include reporters, editors, market editors, top stylists, relevant influencers/ tastemakers, and aligned brands for potential partnerships.
What You’ll Do
Oversee the day-to-day PR operations of the fashion division and collaborate with the cofounders to grow the business
Serve as strategic lead of all fashion accounts, develop client strategy, and serve as the primary point of contact for clients
Direct client accounts, working closely with the team to ensure seamless execution
Lead the ideation and execution of pitch strategies, ensuring a unique and compelling narrative for each client
Conceptualize, plan, and oversee high-impact events, press trips, and activations that generate maximum media coverage and audience engagement
Conduct pitching outreach to secure impactful media coverage and elevate client visibility
Spearhead product launches and seeding initiatives
Expand and diversify the network of journalists, tastemakers, and influencers, ensuring a broad reach for our clients
Execute events with an eye towards media coverage and product seeding
Foster a collaborative and respectful team culture in line with our values and our dedication to sustainability
Who You Are
You’re an experienced PR professional who can provide strategic oversight of client accounts and drive success towards client goals / KPIs.
You’ve worked within an agency setting and have a proven track record of successfully leading accounts, building trust and instilling confidence by acting as a trusted advisor and partner
You’re excited about the opportunity to leverage your experience in fashion PR to elevate brands that are redefining the industry and pioneering a more sustainable approach to fashion
You have exceptional writing skills and the ability to craft compelling pitches
You’re able to craft thoughtful narratives and you're up for the challenge of sharing nuanced fashion stories that aren't solely product-focused
You have a proven track record of successfully executing PR events and product seeding
You’ve developed the ability to proactively identify client needs, and get creative in solving problems when you - or your team - seems to hit a dead end
You’re able to do the high-level strategic work, but you’re still able to get in the weeds with your team to oversee partnerships, manage events and run press previews
Qualifications
8-10 years of experience in PR, working with premium fashion brands
Key relationships and proven track record within the industry a must
Agency experience is a must; experience with in-house PR is a plus
Proven success managing complex projects and a diverse client portfolio required thorough leadership and industry expertise.
Strong organizational and project management skills
Deep knowledge of the fashion calendar, industry, key players, and trends
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
Must be based in NYC

POSITION DETAILS
This is a full-time position based in our New York City office, with a hybrid work setting (three days in the office per week). Travel may be required; previous travel for our fashion clients includes Los Angeles, Mexico City, Ghana, Iceland, Copenhagen and Paris.
