As Managing Director, Insurance, you will spearhead our exciting work in the insurance sector. You will be responsible for crafting the strategy for an entire business line and collaborating closely with our insurance industry partners. You will play the leading role in growing our insurance-focused initiatives, building out the insurance team and establishing a foothold in new markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Line Establishment: Build a new business line dedicated to insurance, including development of business models, revenue streams, and a go-to-market strategy. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices
- Product Development: Drive the development of internal products tailored to the insurance sector's unique needs. Collaborate with our Research, Engineering, Legal, Compliance and Finance teams to take products from conceptualization to launch. Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy that leverages our capabilities to create innovative solutions
- Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research to inform product development and identify opportunities, and potential risks within the insurance industry that can inform our market strategy
- Partner Engagement and Business Development: Source and cultivate strategic partnerships in the insurance industry. Understand specific requirements, collaborate on bespoke solutions, and forge relationships. Be familiar with the M&A landscape
- Team Leadership: Initially the role will work with teams across the organization. As the strategy development progresses, grow and lead a dedicated team for the business line
Required Qualifications:
- Strong entrepreneurial skills and mindset, proven ability to innovate and create new business opportunities
- 10+ years in insurance, private equity, consulting, or other strategic and entrepreneurial roles with some direct experience in the insurance industry
- Proven track record of building and launching successful products and business lines in insurance
- Strong leadership skills
- This position is available for hybrid in-person work in our Berkeley, CA office or for remote work in the United States; provided travel to Berkeley, CA as requested is required
The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $300,000 in the location(s) of this posting. Individual salaries are determined through a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Base salary does not include other forms of total compensation such as bonus compensation and other benefits. Our benefits package includes medical, dental and vision coverage, life and AD&D insurance, 20 days of paid time off, 9 sick days, and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
