Managing Director

DESCRIPTION

Our client is a fast-growing boutique investment bank that focuses on the middle market and is continuing to expand its coverage. We are looking for Managing Directors who will lead coverage of the Business Services, Healthcare, and Consumer sectors.

• Successful candidates will be able to leverage our client's high-quality expertise in marketing their practice
• Successful candidates will be able to cover their sectors broadly, not confined by narrow coverage subsectors. Over time, as the firm gains in prominence and success, the Heads of each sector will play a critical role in determining how to build out sector teams.
• Successful candidates will join a close-knit team of experienced bankers that are invested in each other’s success; bankers are incentivized to collaborate with each other and coordinate their efforts.
• Successful candidates will leverage the firm’s relationships across the platform’s practices; each MD that has joined has been able to ramp up quickly and benefitted from inbounds.

REQUIREMENTS

• 10+ years of experience within Healthcare, Consumer, or Business Services investment banking.
• Must have proven success in new business development – must be commercial and ambitious with a track record of originating and executing M&A deals within their sector. Must have strong sponsor relationships that have resulted in business.
• Ideal candidates will have middle market investment banking training and experience.
• Must have sector expertise; ideally, candidates will not be overly specialized and will be able to be effective across their sectors.
• Experience developing relationships with company executives, including CEOs, CFOs and Heads of M&A, and Sponsors.
• Candidates who are very driven and have a good commercial instinct are the best fit; prospect identification and relationship development is a key skill set.
• Must be a true team player who can leverage all of the firm’s resources, while also being willing to “roll up their sleeves”
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• High energy, focus and client presence are imperative.
• Hard charging with willingness to "run through walls" for clients.
• Management skills in supervising and training mid-level and junior staff.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to interact effectively with both clients and internal management.
