Managing Director, Accounting & Finance Advisory (New Jersey-Remote)

Due to high growth, we are seeking to add a Managing Director to our accounting advisory team. Responsibilities:

  • This role would be working alongside a Senior Managing Director supporting public company work and technical accounting. The position will include having strong accounting technical skills and a deep desire to help an A list of clients solve various technical accounting issues.
  • Delivery responsibilities will include direct hands-on delivery as well as managing and supporting teams and an overall QC process within the growing accounting and financial sector of a consulting firm.
  • Motivate, coach, manage teams.
  • Delivery will include assisting clients with technical accounting areas include but are not limited to revenue recognition, purchase accounting and implementing various debt and equity standards, Mergers and Acquisitions, implementing new accounting standards, SOX, SEC reporting, IPO readiness, debt and equity transactions, process improvement, as well and accounting special projects.
  • Lead and manage multiple and challenging advisory engagements, working with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop agendas and lead meetings with target management.
  • Help source projects and development leads to originate engagements.
  • Manage the financial and resource aspects of engagements by partnering with resource management to ensure optional resources with required skills are available and allocated to client engagements.
  • Maintain regular communications with the engagement team and client regarding project status and potential deal issues as they arise.

Required Skills/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting. Graduate degree preferred along with CPA or CIA designation.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in accounting transaction advisory, or similar services. This includes 6 years or more in audit with a big four or other nationwide recognized accounting firms.
  • Experience in consulting capacity is required.
  • Strong technical and financial reporting skills within a wide range of client verticals.
  • Corporate accounting experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and supervising teams through complex transactions.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience interacting directly with c-Suite senior client personnel.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under the pressure of transaction deadlines.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Strong communicator with ability to facilitate projects amongst a variety of stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to develop solutions - Independent thinker, quick on your feet.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to travel to clients as needed (approx. 30% of time).
