Summary
The Manager of Talent Development is a thought leader who is able to translate global organizational needs into development programs for all channels (SSC, DC, Field). You will lead collaborative efforts to assess, design, develop, deliver and reinforce such needs with the goal of improving overall company performance. This will be accomplished by your own efforts, as well as our Talent Development Specialist and other HR Partners. In essence, the Manager of Talent Development has ownership of the talent lifecycle and is able to see the forest through the trees when it comes to setting a strategic vision for learning at JOANN.

Job Duties
- Serving the Business – The Manager of Talent Development serves in a shared service capacity by leading the design, delivery and execution of talent programs for all channels. This includes the development of the philosophy and red thread throughout JOANN’s talent programs that begins with the company’s leadership dimensions and competencies. The Manager of Talent Development provides ongoing support to HRBPs as they execute talent programs such as talent calibration, succession planning, performance management and other similar programs.
- Cultivating a learning environment – The Manager of Talent Development is able to understand, articulate and translate organizational needs into talent programs. Utilizing a variety of learning tactics and methodologies, this person creates the structure that enables the learning team to create consistent, engaging content. Act as the author of our yearly learning agenda, in partnership with our executive leadership and aligning with annual goals.
- Coach, facilitator, and teacher to the talent development team and leaders across the organization. This individual does not shy away from coaching relationships with leaders, as a part of development programs, such as the mentoring program. The Manager of Talent Development frequently presents in front of large audiences, with confidence, and ensures their team does so, also.
- Owns the onboarding and orientation process in theory and in execution for our corporate employees and store leaders. Ensuring that we are providing the right level of support for new team members and enabling our leaders with the tools necessary to successfully onboard their new hires.
- Using a data driven approach, reviews, continuously improves, and maintains existing programs to ensure continued validity, relevance, and effectiveness. Supports all initiatives intended to develop, coach, and accelerate the growth of the organization’s leadership.
- Education Minimum: Bachelor's degree
- Education Preferred: Graduate Degree; MBA or Master's Degree
- Experience Minimum: 5+ Progressive talent management and learning and development experience or combined related corporate experience; Strong experience in leveraging technology to improve talent outcomes
- Experience Preferred: 8+ years progressive talent management and learning and development experience. 3+ years leading a Talent Development team and large-scale business initiatives.
- Strong organizational skills and project management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong business writing skills required.
- Ability to manage competing, high-priority demands in a fast-paced environment.
