WPS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Manager Substation Construction and Mtnce in our Green Bay, Wisconsin location.
Job Summary
The primary responsibilities of the manager are to strategically manage substation construction, maintenance, inspection and operating activities, in a cost effective manner, on time, meeting quality specifications and safety compliances and incorporating best work practices. The manager will provide oversight and support for the construction, maintenance, inspection and operational activities requested by departments in Wisconsin Public Service; such as- Customer Operations/EDAM, the American Transmission Company (ATC), Power Generation (PG), Facilities, Information Technology and; Substation and Transmission, Wisconsin Distribution Operations and other departments.

Job Responsibilities
- Ensure that all field activities are performed according to applicable safety rules, work procedures, construction standards and according to the engineering design.
- Develop and implement innovative construction & maintenance practices to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
- Ensure excellent internal and external customer relations and communications.
- Ensure effective management of construction contracts.
- Provide direction and support to engineering, construction, and maintenance to achieve departmental and group goals for on-time service installations, reliability and budgets.
- Provide oversight of work scheduling and resource allocation within the work group.
- Develop and monitor key business process and cost controls with a profit and loss mentality.
- Prepare, manage and report on budgets
- Coaching and developing management personnel to help them excel in their current and future responsibilities.
- Building Organizational talent to attract, develop, engage and retain talented individuals.
- Driving Execution of strategic and operational initiatives.
- Ensuring that the customer perspective is a driving force behind business decisions.
- Utilize financial data to diagnose business strengths and weaknesses.
- Obtain information and identify key issues and relationships relevant to achieving long-range goals.
- Develop and implement staffing plans Establish, monitor and manage work group performance metrics
- Provide leadership during major restorations and other emergency situations.
- Fill in for the Manager Substation Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance in their absence.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Information Technology or other relevant technical discipline is required.
- Minimum of 7 years of managerial and electric transmission, distribution or substation experience.
- Wisconsin Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Prior experience involving direct management of unionized trades personnel
