Position Summary

The Global Verticals Strategy & Operations organization plays an instrumental role in accelerating growth and scale across this portfolio. The team sits at the center of the organization and ensures cross-functional operational excellence as well as shaping the strategy in support of the Global Verticals leadership.

Members of the team have a dual mentality: both that of a strategic leader—who has a deep understanding of the dynamics of two-sided marketplaces, can break down tough problems into clear frameworks, operate in ambiguity, and possesses strong data intuition and executive-ready communications—as well as someone who can move quickly and decisively as an embedded operator not afraid to get their hands dirty.

We are looking to hire a Manager for planning & business operations spanning across all verticals. This person will report into the Director of Planning & Business Operations for Global Verticals.

What You’ll Do

  • Work directly with Global Verticals strategy & operations leadership on business management of the portfolio of categories (Fashion, Collectibles, Electronics and Home & Garden) across markets (focus US, UK, DE)
  • Support the annual planning process, helping to drive uniformity in standards, tools and templates
  • Enable plan execution, collaborating across a broad cross-functional team (product, marketing, analytics, finance, business development, pricing, and others) to formalize processes and unblock barriers to delivery
  • Help ongoing optimization of business cadences (e.g., business performance reviews, initiative deep dives) to effectively track progress against plans
  • Contribute to the creation of executive presentation materials for global verticals leadership up through the eBay c-suite
  • Proactively identify and solution process improvements focused on creating a more effective and efficient global verticals organization
  • …and as the Strategy & Operations team scales, contribute to end-to-end solution development behind select strategic programs

Who You Are

  • An exceptional communicator beyond your years of experience (verbal and written)
  • A PowerPoint specialist who loves coming up with the most effective ways to present information and visualize data
  • Possesses a strong business acumen with the ability to think holistically around problem statements
  • Can be autonomous and self-reliant, while also serving as a cross-functional leader who is also recognized as a collaborator and partner
  • Organized problem solver who balances attention to detail with efficiency
  • Ambition to grow professionally and willingness to work hard, learn/adapt, and provide feedback both upward and to peer teams

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of related experience, including 2+ years at a top-tier management consulting firm, investment bank, or in a strategic planning & business operations role at a major corporation
  • Industry experience in consumer goods, retail, e-commerce, or consumer tech
  • BA/BS required, MBA or similar graduate degree preferred
  • Bonus points if you have a personal passion for any of the named categories within the global verticals portfolio
