Manager, Strategic Partnerships and Resource Mobilization

Position Overview

The Rockefeller Foundation (RF) seeks a Manager on the Resource Mobilization team to support key Foundation initiatives in building strategic partnerships and alliances; and mobilizing capital and other resources to scale the Foundation’s people-centered climate strategy. Resource Mobilization is responsible for identifying and cultivating new and existing partnerships with private and corporate philanthropies, family offices and donor-advised funds, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, development banks, and bilateral aid agencies.


Reporting to the Vice President, Resource Mobilization, this role will support RF’s leadership and program teams with the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of funding partners to leverage the Foundation’s investments and execute its organizational strategy to promote the well-being of humanity and reverse the climate crisis. This is a highly visible role both internally and externally; working closely with colleagues from Program Strategy, Program teams, and RF Catalytic Capital to lead donor relations for the Foundation, and implement Salesforce and other partnership collaboration tools to improve effectiveness.

Pay Range : $114,791 - $161,468. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.


Work Schedule : This role is on a hybrid work schedule, and required to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.



Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of new and existing donors and strategic partners.
  • Work closely with program teams to understand their priority initiatives and to develop their respective resource mobilization strategies – including stakeholder mapping, and donor/partner outreach.
  • Act as the partnership focal point for program teams to develop the infrastructure for a robust resource mobilization function including – the adoption of Salesforce for pipeline management and tracking, development of a funder/partner diligence process, spearheading best practices for relationship management, and models for cross-team collaboration.
  • Conduct research on prospective donors and other potential strategic partners and build an understanding of their goals as they correspond to the priorities of RF at the institutional and program levels.
  • Collaborate with and convene various partnership functions across the Foundation to ensure that work is in sync and effective; work with colleagues from across the Foundation to coordinate co-funding opportunities, transactions, and relationships.
  • Ensure alignment with the Foundation strategy and help prioritize partnership engagement opportunities and provide talking points and materials to senior leadership for capital mobilization engagements, as needed.
  • Coordinate the development of fundraising marketing and pitch materials with Program teams and the Communications, Policy, and Advocacy team.
  • Manage external consulting support (as needed).


Education, Experience, And Skills

  • Generally expected to have at least 7 years of relevant experience in fundraising, strategic partnerships, and/or resource mobilization.
  • Experience in developing donor cultivation and solicitation strategies with knowledge of fundraising best practices for solicitation, stewardship, and funder/grant compliance.
  • Experience working with foundations, high net worth donors, and corporate philanthropy.
  • Familiarity with government grants and contracts.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written; experience generating visual representations of program outcomes.
  • Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure; ability to multitask and prioritize work amidst competing demands.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: diplomacy, patience, and team orientation.
  • Self-starter with a strategic and entrepreneurial mentality.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn new applications and to navigate multiple platforms.
  • Extensive experience with Salesforce.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
