Requirements

Job Purpose/Background:

As Greenbacker continues to raise capital and grow our investment portfolio, an opportunity has arisen to join Greenbacker Capital Management as Manager, Solar Operations. The selected individual will work and train closely with the Field Operations team while also working independently to manage day-to-day operations of our maintenance subcontractors, analyze asset performance, improve standard operating procedure, assess deliverables, and help Field Operations with construction monitoring and technical due diligence of pre-COD assets. The Field Operations team is responsible for operating our existing solar & wind assets as well as conducting technical diligence on new acquisitions. As a small and evolving firm, the responsibilities will be broad, varied, and all encompassing. Additionally, in joining a growing team there is significant opportunity to gain responsibility and perform high-level tasks earlier than what is typical at larger organizations; such opportunity will be based solely on the merits of the individual joining our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Field Operations point of contact for daily operation of a 100-200+ MW solar and/or BESS asset portfolio. This includes ensuring timely dispatch, remote technical support, coordinating follow-up actions, and expense approvals with contractors
  • Enforce consistent, high-quality deliverables to our asset management software platform from subcontractors and internal staff
  • Plan, manage and review all maintenance activities for our C&I solar assets
  • Identify opportunities to improve asset health through inventory, sustainability, and partner management
  • Help refine departmental processes and procedures with the goal of providing organized and successful operation of our fleet, projected to grow to over 3GW of installed capacity over the next several years
  • Proactively identify potential issues that could cause asset performance or otherwise affect forecasted revenue and make strategic decisions to avoid and prevent these issues from arising
  • Assist with complex technical due diligence and risk assessment for new assets being acquired or achieving permission to operate
  • Work with Performance Engineering to optimize our monitoring platforms
  • Monitor the performance of portfolio assets and assist with the overall optimization of returns on the portfolio
  • Flexibility through proper time management to support the team or specific members with high-priority items not exclusive to the defined portfolio
  • Manage and develop third party relationships and contracts, ensuring their compliance of regulations and rules governing the assets
  • There may be occasional project-related travel for onsite objectives and industry events

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:

  • Highly proficient in learning new software tools and their advanced capabilities. It will be expected that you become an expert at our platforms in short order
  • Experience in a problem-solving role exclusive to the renewable energy industry
  • Experience with renewable energy project construction and/or operation
  • A true "self-starter". We are a small team and need someone to bring the full breadth of their skills, expertise, and intellect to work every day to help the business grow and improve, and not just be a person content to complete tasks and wait for direction
  • Detail-oriented. Someone who will get the small things right, leave no stone unturned in the quest for precision and accuracy and document the process thoroughly
  • Manager Level: Interested in and have 2-3 years management experience in renewable energy and energy markets
