Manager, Payroll

LEARFIELD Plano, TX

This position is integral to the Human Resources team and will manage the company's payroll processing for 2,000+ employees across multiple divisions and business lines. This position will collaborate with various groups throughout the organization including, accounting/ finance and members of the senior management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the day-to-day administration of all payroll activities and ensures that all processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensures program compliance with state and federal payroll requirements and stays current with law changes.
  • Serves as a liaison to employees and third-party payroll vendors to ensure payroll processing accurately reflects company specific pay policies.
  • Functions as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously looks for improvements in the operational processes and designs and implements those initiatives.
  • Audits pay records and reconcile totals by department, location, country, etc.
  • Coordinates payroll implementations and upgrades.
  • Interprets pay policies (vacation, LOA, disability, workers compensation, government regulations, withholding exemptions) and ensures appropriate amounts/deductions are calculated and applied correctly.
  • Partners with accounting/finance in maintaining the general ledger interface and producing management reports.
  • Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll tax issues.
  • Participates in selection and management of ongoing relationships with external consultants and suppliers to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service.
  • Provides guidance and training to HR professionals with respect to payroll.
  • Manages and develops payroll staff.
  • Leads special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of professional work experience managing / administering payroll processes and activities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or closely related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior experience with Workday is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Must have a genuine interest in learning, understanding and empathizing with the needs of the organization's leadership and staff.

  • Ability to work and maintain confidential information as private and sign a Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
