Job Description:

About the Role:

Manage the design, plan, validation and implementation of new packaging technologies, line extensions, package/product improvement and technical service for Treehouse Foods that meet product offering requirements. Deliver ideas to increase the value of the company (cost reductions, innovations, solutions, etc.). This position also carries the responsibility of managing direct reports and grow their capabilities for contributing to the organization while coordinating and managing efforts of the complete team. You’ll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:

  • Self-directed, strong, independent contributor with increased technical depth within large-scale projects applying technical skills in problem resolution and mentoring others
  • Lead technical expertise on cross-functional project teams and technical oversight of internal and external manufacturing start-ups and ongoing technical service
  • Develop information for and provide direction for packaging specifications, in-process control points and establish testing requirements and operating guidelines
  • Champion ideas for technology improvements, cost savings, innovation and alignment of project strategic fit. Serve as the expert for the team.
  • Manage, mentor, coach and develop employees in the technical aspects of packaging development on assigned product categories through development, planning and execution
  • Deliver technical expertise to business leaders to utilize in business decisions
  • Oversee the design, execution, and analysis of experimentation
  • Set technical strategic direction, including initiating programs in area of technical expertise and recommendations for new technologies. Responsible for technical resource management planning

Important Details: This is a full-time role located in our offices in Oak Brook, IL on a hybrid schedule

About You:

You’ll fit right in if you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required: Packaging, Engineering, or related technical field
  • 12 years’ experience in Food Packaging Development plus a minimum of 2 years successfully managing others
  • Expert ability to influence project direction by providing technical input to the planning and decision-making process
  • Proficient in providing cross-functional team leadership and technical project management
  • Broad based technical proficiency and highly evolved tactical skills. Recognized, endorsed and utilized internally as well as externally for technical expertise
  • Proven skills in project management, negotiation, communication, technical problem solving and ability to perform these skills at an advanced level or higher
  • Solid ability to interact and collaborate with RDI groups, external resources, suppliers and consultants to achieve project objectives. Communicate the complex technical information in an easily understood format to various levels of management and Senior Leaders
  • Solid understanding and experience with paperboard, corrugate, film, plastics and glass packaging materials
  • Experience with TOPS/CAPE and internal spec management.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of time
