Manager of Sustainability and Government Affairs

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Manager of Sustainability and Government Affairs will lead the development and implementation of the Company’s sustainability strategies, oversee ESG monitoring and reporting, manage government relations initiatives, and coordinate with lobbyists to advance the organization’ s policy objectives. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning and communication skills. The Manager of Sustainability and Government Affairs will play a key role in fostering cultural change by integrating sustainability into internal decision-making, as well as public policy monitoring and advocacy.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the ESG mission and the development and execution of current and future ESG related strategies; collect data and metrics following reporting standards in preparation for company ESG report completion and communication.
  • Champion ESG and government relations initiatives across the organization, driving cultural change and mindset shifts. Help define and communicate the purpose to drive transformation.
  • Plan, coordinate, and track progress and results of sustainability and ESG initiatives
  • Manage and build relationships with key external stakeholders, including government stakeholders, elected officials, non-governmental organizations, industry associations, and regulatory bodies.
  • Work closely with finance and accounting team members to ensure integrity of reported ESG data
  • Monitor federal and state legislative activity and analyze impact of change for the Company
  • Drive development of government relations initiatives at the local, state and federal levels.
  • Report regularly to management on status of major policy issues/initiatives and objectives for planned activities
  • Other Duties as assigned

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7 years of professional work experience in a related capacity.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft suite of applications including Power BI) for analysis, review and reporting of data
  • Good analytical and quantitative data management skills
  • Experience with data management systems to benchmark and synthesize data and communicate internal trends and insights
  • Familiarity with legislative process is preferred
  • Knowledge of greenhouse gas emissions, climate-related risks, environmental issues, social and ESG related issues, and the domestic and international regulatory reporting landscape
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and reach closure within established time frames.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders including elected officials and regulators.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet required deadlines, and manage multiple.
