Manager Plant Operations

Reports to

General Manager, Corporate Director of Operations & Safety

Job purpose

Oversee all daily operations of the plant, from production scheduling and manufacturing, management of materials at receipt through shipment, inventory management. This position will manage and oversee all quality and safety policy procedures.

Instruct and delegate employee’s daily objectives for production activities. Develop standard work practices, documents and inspire an environment of continuous improvement.

Duties and responsibilities

Scheduling / Production Process:

Analyze jobs to determine needs, staffing and complexities involved. Establish the shop production schedule with consideration to budget, staffing requirements, demand, resources, outside operations, training, labor costs, material availability, quality level acceptance, efficiency and on-time delivery performance.

Employee Relations:

Must possess strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication, inspire team participation and cooperation. Be a visionary leader inspiring respect and trust and addressing the employees' issues with a sense of urgency. Conduct employee reviews to provide employees with feedback with regard to their personal performance activities and performance improvement plans. Interview, hire, terminate and disciplines all shop employees as necessary following company protocol.

Productivity:

Establishes productivity expectations and drives output. Removes constraints and achieves quality and on-time shipping performance objectives. Challenges work areas through continuous improvement activities in order to improve process performance and increase labor efficiencies.

Process/Equipment Improvements:

Works closely with employees with regard to all aspects related to production, not limited to the production and non-production areas. Stimulates and promotes problem solving through team approach, support, innovation, initiatives and conveying an expectation with a strong follow-up approach to ensure improvements are successful. Plans strategically and makes recommendations to introduce equipment and processes to fit business growth.

Quality:

Ensure that the quality expectations are followed to the highest levels throughout the production process. Clarifying quality expectations and metrics performance and immediately addressing issues not compliant with established goals.

Safety:

Develop, coordinate, and monitor all activities of safety and risk management to ensure that all work performed is done so in a safe manner.

Qualifications

  • University or college diploma or equivalent industry work experience.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in aerospace quality metals industry or other related metals industry.
  • Computer skills including Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate well with others.
  • Good mathematical skills and spatial recognition.
  • Self-motivated and can act on own initiative.
  • Experience working to targets and deadlines.
  • Can quickly learn in complex industry.
  • Adaptable and have a positive attitude towards change.
  • Motivated, communicative and goal oriented.

Working conditions

  • Monday-Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm
  • Office environment
  • Industrial warehouse environment
  • Sitting for extended periods
  • Standing for extended periods
  • Travel

Pay Scale

  • Salary $75,000 - $150,000 DOQ
  • Monthly Bonus Schedule
  • Annual incentive matrix bonus
