Job Summary
The Medical Affairs Manager is a key contributor to the execution of the Medical Affairs strategy and tactics. The Medical Affairs Manager will be involved in all aspects of Medical Affairs such as designing and supporting clinical studies and evidence generation, content development, KOL education programs, as well as medical information requests.
Core Responsibilities
- Execute Medical Affairs strategies including engagement with opinion leaders, investigator-led research, HEOR, and data dissemination.
- Support Clinical Operations and Clinical Development to facilitate enrollment of company sponsored clinical trials.
- Execute a strategic publication and congress plan; work with internal colleagues to develop key messages on unmet need, mechanism of action, target product profile, and among others.
- Support publication planning, medical writing, medical advisory boards, educational programs, conferences, and responding to requests for medical information.
- Establish professional relationships with the medical community and exchange scientific knowledge with global and regional key opinion leaders.
- Partner with other departments to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant preparation and review of promotional and educational material.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional colleagues (e.g. marketing, sales, patient advocacy, clinical, regulatory, legal and market access) to develop and execute strategic plans.
- Foster an environment of compliance and integrity by managing and adhering to all company policies and Legal and Regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Terminal Degree MD/DO/OD/PhD/PharmD required.
- Completed Fellowship at an accredited Medical Affairs program OR a minimum of 2 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in an internal Medical Affairs or Operations capacity required.
- Successful record in designing and executing clinical trials required.
- Ophthalmic experience preferred.
- Experience in scientific presentations and medical writing preferred.
- Experience in promotional review committee preferred.
- Experience in drafting medical information requests preferred.
- Experience utilizing statistical analysis software preferred.
- Broad knowledge of product development, regulatory requirements, payer landscape, and life cycle management preferred.
- Proven ability and experience to develop and foster peer-to-peer, credible relationships with Medical Experts/decision makers.
- Working knowledge of the Healthcare System and of the research procedures as well as the ICH guidelines, GCP, and other ethical guidelines.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to interpret scientific/clinical literature.
- Proficient with MS Office applications.
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English required.
- Travel Requirements: 30%
- Must live within 30-minute commute to a major airport.
