Position Description

The Manager of Individual Giving is an important member of the External Affairs team at the Franklin Institute. The Manager is responsible for overseeing the Annual Fund, Benefactor Society, and Benjamin Franklin Legacy Society. The Franklin Institute, the most visited museum in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, strives to be the world leader in promoting science and technology education and literacy through inspiring and engaging experiences that cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and an understanding of the crucial role science plays in our lives. The Manager will translate these exciting opportunities to current and future audiences to enhance and communicate the value of supporting TFI.

This role will oversee all aspects of the Annual Fund, Benefactor Society, and Franklin Legacy Society:

Annual Fund

  • Create and manage a detailed annual appeal plan, timeline, content, and budget with clear fundraising targets and marketing goals.
  • Collaborate with team members on marketing activities and collateral needed to support annual programs.
  • Highly skilled at synthesizing and analyzing data to execute an effective strategy and maximize results.

Benefactor Society

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with a portfolio of Benefactor Society members (giving $1,500 to $4,999 annually), understanding their personal motivations to support, and maximizing opportunities to encourage further giving.
  • Think holistically and strategically about Benefactor Society acquisition, renewals, and potential for upgrades.
  • Creativity in strategy development and engagement of this important group of stakeholders. Track trends and stay current with new approaches to fundraising, effectively evaluating, testing and leveraging new ideas for TFI.
  • Partner with the Manager of Development Events to create meaningful engagement opportunities for Benefactor Society members.

Benjamin Franklin Legacy Society

  • In partnership with the Director of Individual Giving, ensure a robust strategy to share this planned giving opportunity with constituents.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ability to think strategically and maintain a donor-centric mindset.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Raiser’s Edge or similar database. Ability to create and pull reports to execute tasks.
  • Skilled at collaborating with colleagues across multiple departments.

Non-Essential Functions

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience, preferably in a science center or museum setting.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as required.

Status: Full-time,37.5 hours per week. Monday through Friday
