Description

We are looking for a Manager, Learning & Development to work on the Training, Events & Communications team onsite in Bethesda, MD. You will report to the VP, Training, Events & Communications.

The Manager, Learning & Development is responsible for all of the training needs for Total Wine & More’s retail locations. This position leads a team of excellent instructional designers who create engaging and innovative learning objects to support the stores’ operations, sales and service, product knowledge, and management training. This position supports the team’s projects to provide counsel during the different creation stages, as well as review the final training product. This position also supports the instructional designers with the management of long-term training initiatives, including Total Wine’s internal certifications, synchronous virtual trainings, store employee onboarding, monthly product training initiatives, and other product training efforts.

In addition to managing a team of instructional designers, this position is responsible for the creation and maintenance of larger, high-profile training projects. This position utilizes instructional systems design (ISD) model(s) and creativity to efficiently craft various training objects that are aligned with and support the business needs and goals of Total Wine. This position will work with trainers, subject matter experts, and key business stakeholders to develop learning solutions that are evidence-based and efficacious. This position will also ensure the programs continue to be effective and efficient through successful project management.

The Manager, Learning & Development position is also responsible for the oversight of the company’s Learning Management System (LMS). This includes determining the strategy for efficient usage of the system, as well as responding to tickets from stores as needed.

You will

  • Lead a team of instructional designers, who create innovative and effective learning solutions for stores
  • Oversee internal facing training programs such as Total Wine Professional, Total Spirits Professional, Meet the Maker, and Wine for Life
  • Utilize instructional systems design (ISD) models, adult learning principles, and innovative strategies to develop engaging learning solutions in support of the business
  • Collaborate effectively with different departments to develop training materials to align with store needs
  • Create engaging learning content for new products, processes, and operational initiatives by using latest technology
  • Oversee administration of company’s Learning Management System, including responding to tickets as needed

You will come with

  • Bachelor’s degree required (instructional design or educational technology preferred)
  • Learning Management System (LMS) experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Articulate 360 products experience preferred
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to build partnerships
  • Excellent communicator
  • Effective project manager
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
