We are seeking a Manager, Financial Governance for a prominent client in the utilities industry. This long-term contract position offers an opportunity to join a dynamic team in Dallas, TX.
Role Overview
The Manager, Financial Governance will oversee OpEx financial processes within the Technology organization. Responsibilities include managing monthly financial reporting, annual budget planning cycles, cost management, vendor payments, and regulatory support.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Financial Governance team in executing monthly close and financial reporting accurately and on time, including accruals, variance explanations, and projections.
Analyze financial and operational data to provide insights and recommendations.
Develop the annual OpEx plan for Technology, aligning with client and Technology strategy.
Collaborate with Client Financial Support to prepare monthly consolidated financial reports and annual plans for the Technology organization.
Ensure timely and accurate payments to Technology vendors and proper recording on financial statements.
Execute monthly and quarterly SOX controls accurately and on schedule.
Review contracts and statements of work for appropriate accounting treatment.
Communicate priorities clearly to ensure timely completion of projects with high-quality results.
Evaluate existing processes for continuous improvement and compliance with financial policies and guidelines.
Provide financial information for regulatory filings and participate in rate case proceedings.
Conduct quarterly reviews of intangible assets and manage related SOX controls.
Facilitate financial training for Technology employees and contractors.
Develop relationships with key business partners and stakeholders.
Adhere to all procedures, policies, and regulatory guidance.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; CPA or MBA preferred.
Minimum of five years of experience in financial leadership roles; ten years preferred.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, invoice management, and SOX compliance.
Proficiency in technology tools and systems used in the industry.
Business-focused with a track record of achieving results.
Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
Ability to work effectively in a hybrid office environment with occasional travel.
Measures of Success
Ensure accurate financial reporting of Technology transactions.
Lead teams to achieve organizational goals and meet deadlines.
Report monthly OpEx financials and variances to senior management.
Develop and communicate the Technology annual OpEx Plan promptly.
Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure program success.
