The Manager Employee Communications

The Manager Employee Communications at TheKey is responsible for developing and maintaining an internal communications strategy that reflects and enhances the company's employer brand. This role ensures that all internal communications, from leadership messages to employee newsletters, align with TheKey’s values and culture. They will design and implement internal campaigns to celebrate employee achievements, promote company initiatives, and strengthen the sense of community within the organization. They will collaborate with various departments to maintain a unified brand voice across all internal and external communication channels. Additionally, the Manager Employee Communications will build upon TheKey’s employer brand by securing promotional opportunities and managing online reviews and responses on recruitment platforms such as Glassdoor.

The Manager Employee Communications will own the communications calendar, support executive presentations, and develop a comprehensive social media strategy to highlight employee experiences and company culture. They will create, curate, and manage engaging content for TheKey’s social media channels, working closely with the Marketing team to produce multimedia content. They will also assist in managing the intranet portal, ensuring quality control and alignment with the company's standards.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, strong writing and editing skills, and the ability to create engaging and impactful communications across multiple platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Employer Brand

  • In partnership with Marketing, develop and maintain an internal communications strategy that consistently reflects TheKey’s employer brand. Ensure all internal communications, from leadership messages to employee newsletters, align with the company’s values and culture.
  • Design and implement internal campaigns that celebrate employee achievements, promote company initiatives, and strengthen the sense of community within TheKey. Use storytelling techniques to highlight employee stories and successes, reinforcing a positive internal employer brand.
  • Ensure that the employer brand is consistently represented across all internal and external communication channels. Collaborate with different departments to align messaging and maintain a unified brand voice that resonates with both current employees and potential hires.
  • Build upon TheKey’s employer brand by securing local and national promotional opportunities and drafting and editing materials, such as written media interviews, speaker prep documents, award submissions and speaker engagements.
  • Monitor and respond to online reviews on recruitment platforms such as Glassdoor, escalating issues to the appropriate leaders.

Communication Strategy

  • Own the communications calendar and cadence, working with teams to pace out their communications and events to improve uptake and engagement.
  • Support the process of messaging and storyline for regular employee Town Hall meetings and other executive presentations.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to enhance and maintain TheKey’s employer brand, ensuring alignment with the company's vision, mission, and values. Leverage various platforms to highlight employee experiences, company culture, and the impact of TheKey’s work in the world.
  • Develop communication strategies to promote recognition programs across the organization.
  • Contribute to the evolution of our content, focusing on more snackable, sharable, audio and visual content, and less ‘text-only’.

Communication Content

  • Develop detailed, accurate, and concise communications tailored to various audiences, including press releases, department-wide messages, leadership communication, meeting presentations, video scripts, key messages, and talking points.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on key campaigns and transformation initiatives to establish content strategies that deliver on program goals.
  • Create and distribute engaging content to highlight recognition initiatives and celebrate employee achievements.
  • Help review and publish sensitive internal communications designed for protected audiences.
  • Consult with and coach employee communicators from functional teams on improving employee experience through engaging narratives and content.

Social Media

  • Create, curate, and manage engaging content for TheKey’s social media channels that showcases the company’s culture, employee achievements, and organizational milestones.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to produce multimedia content, including videos, graphics, and stories that resonate with current and prospective employees.
  • Monitor social media channels to engage with the audience, respond to inquiries, and foster a positive online community. Use analytics tools to track the performance of social media campaigns, measure engagement, and provide insights to continuously improve content strategy and effectiveness.

Intranet

  • Assist in managing TheKey’s intranet portal by shaping the editorial calendar, vetting story ideas, delegating editing and writing tasks, partnering with the Marketing on production and publication, and ensuring quality control for the channel.
  • Form and manage relationships with key internal stakeholders across business units, functions, and employee groups to ensure all intranet content meets subject matter expert standards.

Required Skills, Education And Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in roles with a heavy focus on internal communications, corporate communications and/or branding.
  • Skills and Attributes:
    • Passion for storytelling and enhancing the overall employee experience.
    • Understanding of best practices surrounding communications and digital content.
    • Ability to contribute to an effective, collaborative, and cross-functional editorial and content strategy.
    • Experience in supporting creative production processes.
    • Experience managing social media channels.
    • Comfort with developing cross-channel content strategy.
    • Proven proofreading and editing ability with exceptional attention to detail
    • Ability to work with urgency and collaborate effectively.
    • Ability to write and edit in various styles and formats, ensuring content is engaging, clear, accurate, and actionable.
    • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills that span in-person and virtual settings.
    • Creativity, curiosity, and innovative thinking.
    • Flexibility and adaptability to change.
