About the position:

The Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) will be the day-to-day point of contact within the MERL team for all systems and programmatic data management.

Key Outcomes:

In the first 90 days, the Manager will:

  • Learn and live the Americares values.
  • Complete all required new hire onboarding trainings.
  • Demonstrate a strong grasp of Americares data systems and processes.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of our reporting requirements.
  • Offer day-to-day support in terms of data governance.
  • Lead in data visualizations using Tableau.

In the first 6 months, the Manager will:

  • Develop processes and policies to improve data accuracy and quality
  • Provide training to program staff on data policies and procedures.
  • Assist in developing and overseeing data architecture in collaboration with MERL team leads, IT, and Data Governance.
  • Propose new data analysis and visualization that would be strategically informative

In the first year, the Manager will:

  • Improve data accuracy and quality of each of Americares data domains.
  • Demonstrate independence and excellence in day-to-day data management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead data aggregation and management for an annual report.
  • Lead data visualization and process creation within program teams and advance data-driven decision making.
  • Work closely with MERL lead to develop and implement global indicators.
  • In collaboration with program teams and other internal stakeholders, develop necessary training resources and coordinate training on outcomes/KPIs
  • Develop SOPs, policies, and practices around data quality and standardization.

These competencies are required for the role:

  • Experience with Tableau Creator.
  • Experience working with databases and data management, Querying data (i.e. Microsoft Access).
  • Ability to identify and solve complex data-related problems, including troubleshooting data quality issues, optimizing data processes, and improving data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, lead data initiatives, and influence decision-making based on data-driven insights.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis, management, and reporting to ensure data integrity and reliability.
  • Ability to drive organizational change by advocating for data-driven decision-making culture, promoting data literacy among stakeholders, and overcoming resistance to change.
  • Experience with establishing data quality KPIs.
  • Experience analyzing data in both excel and SPSS.
  • Experience with people management (staff, interns, and/or project teams).

US work authorization is required for this role.

These competencies would be great to have, but are not required:

  • Fluency in languages that are spoken in at least one of our core locations (India, Philippines, Tanzania, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Colombia, etc.), in addition to English.
  • Experience working with data catalogues and business glossary tools (ie. Alation, Collibra, etc.).
  • Experience in project management methodologies and tools to effectively manage data projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and stakeholder communication.
