Manager, Credit and Default Risk

Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

  • Driving the creation of new Risk Based Collections and Recovery strategies for our Canadian and US based businesses, including data analysis, modeling, strategy design, test design, rollout, monitoring
  • Growing our relationship with the Collections and Operations teams, to identify their needs, translate them into analytical solutions, and roll them out considering impact to existing operational processes and policies
  • Utilizing customer loan data and providing analysis across all aspects of customer life cycle including underwriting and account management, with specific focus on Collections and Recovery
  • Preparing data sample, performing data analysis, and developing reporting to assist in the development of statistical models for credit risk management, fraud detection, collections, operations optimization and forecasting in consumer lending business
  • Working closely with business partners to devise risk policies; identifying actionable insights, suggesting recommendations and influencing the direction of the business by effectively communicating results to cross functional groups
  • Forecasting impact of strategy changes on key business performance metrics such as revenues, balances, and losses. Analyzing and monitoring results, identifying and explaining variances, and making recommendations for further improvements
  • Managing the Service Request change management process to manage strategy implementations; QA/QC implemented changes to ensure that strategy changes perform as designed.
  • Pushing projects to Production environment and monitor performance.

Qualifications

What you should have:

  • BS/MS in a quantitative discipline (statistics, math, qualitative social science, operation management, finance, computer science, etc.) from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years Credit Risk or analytical experience in the lending industry, with emphasis on the development of Risk Based Collections and Recovery strategies
  • Experience in Installment lending for Secured and Unsecured products and Credit Lines
  • Familiarity with Collections Operations from an analytical perspective, including capacity planning, dialer strategies, omni channel collections communications, payment optimization, loss mitigation, loan modification, agency management, debt sale pricing and other collection/recovery processes
  • Knowledge of advanced analytic tools such as Python, SAS, R, to develop analysis and models of varying complexities (including ML tools like XGBoost, XGRegressor, Logistic regressions, etc.)
  • Knowledge of visualization tools like Sigma, Tableau, Power BI
  • Strong knowledge of SQL in platforms like Snowflake or SQL Server
  • Some experience in building data warehouses, developing management reports and risk analytics desired but not essential
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to use data/analytics to solve business problems
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively with minimal direction
  • Comfortable working both independently and in a team environment
  • Prior experience training/mentoring new team members on internal and external data sources, risk policies and procedures and various analytical tools such as Python, SAS, Excel, and data mining
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet competing deadlines
  • Possess a proven record of professional excellence, collaborative attitude, and efficient achievement
  • Previous experience coordinating team assignments, training junior team members, and resolving problems

Base Salary: $140,000 - $180,000

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position based on the U.S. average. The actual base salary offered for this full-time position will be determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, skills, knowledge, competencies, and experience.

All full-time salaried employees are eligible for the following benefits, starting on day one: Flexible Paid Time Off Program, Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Disability, and other voluntary coverages. You will also be eligible to participate in our 401k program, starting on the first of the month following 30 days of employment with a company match.
