Manager, Corporate Strategy

Overview / Objective

The NFL Corporate Strategy group is seeking a Manager who will support key business strategy initiatives, including long-term planning and cross-functional projects. This position will support the department’s oversight of League strategic planning, cross-functional business planning, KPI and other metric development, performance tracking, and “white space” projects. The Corporate Strategy group is responsible for developing strategic positions on critical long-term issues and opportunities facing the League, and works with stakeholders across the organization to drive key business and project initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of media and consumer businesses (ideally within the sports landscape), and the ability to work cross-functionally across a complex and matrixed organization.  Fluency in financial statements and general analytical capabilities are required.

Responsibilities

  • Work across the broader organization to support multi-year department business planning on both an annual and rolling basis, including supporting the development of strategic priorities and analysis around the allocation of investment across initiatives
  • Support the creation, development, and tracking of departmental and League-wide business plans, including the institutionalizing of strategic priorities, metric creation, measurement, tracking, and ultimate reporting of success metrics
  • Support the development and analysis of League priorities, strategic insights and growth opportunities based on key League and market trends
  • Synthesize and diligence key department and League investment and growth opportunities (e.g., financial modeling, market analysis), and collaborate with key internal stakeholders to assess the attractiveness of opportunities across a variety of considerations
  • Work with the Corporate Finance department throughout the annual budgeting process to ensure alignment and coordination with the annual long-range planning process, including analysis of variances and rationale across the two deliverables
  • In partnership with key departments, track objectives, metrics and progress against plans to deliver strategic and business results
  • Work with cross-functional teams on “white space” projects, including executing rigorous analysis on major League initiatives (e.g., international growth, youth participation)
  • Enable senior management decision-making by providing support in key areas such as analysis for ownership and development of presentations for senior management, committees, and general ownership

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years of experience in consulting, investment banking, sports business, or other relevant analytical fields
  • Deep understanding of sports business, including media, live events, sponsorship, marketing, and fan behavior
  • Strategic planning and business planning experience are preferred
  • Successful track record of working in complex organizations with mid-to-senior levels of leadership

  • The Manager will possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively/diplomatically within a cross-functional organization. This person must be a consummate team player with a competitive but collaborative style who can find common ground and build strong partnerships among colleagues and peers

  • Excellent verbal, written (especially within PowerPoint), and oral presentation/communication skills
  • Hard-working, detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week
  • FLSA exempt.

Salary / Pay Range

This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job in the location(s) specified. The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

Salary

$115,000 — $150,000 USD
