Position Summary

Work with the US Head and other team members to build and execute proactive communications plans around our businesses and leadership teams, as well as our portfolio companies, which support and enhance Carlyle's brand and reputation, including media relations, financial communications and executive communications. Manage and execute projects from start to finish that support these efforts and position Carlyle with all of our external stakeholders.


Responsibilities

Media Relations / Content

  • Build and maintain relationships with a broad set of media outlets
  • Develop and manage integrated plans for announcements and other external activities. Write messaging and talking points; Draft press releases and other key content
  • Support business communications and activities including collaborating with deal teams to highlight success stories, investment insights, and thought leadership through various media channels.
  • Set up and staff interviews
  • Field incoming media inquiries and determine best approach and response
  • Perform daily media monitoring, sending relevant articles to appropriate investment teams/internal contacts to keep them informed of industry news
  • Manage our key media lists including from portfolio company contacts
  • Partner with the brand and social team to ensure that our strategies and efforts are holistic and coordinated across all external channels; Help write social and digital content


Executive Communications

  • Help build out executive communications plans for the leadership teams, including ensuring we are maximizing communications opportunities during executive travel
  • Drive day-to-day execution; Help research, write, edit and manage materials


Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in agency, corporate communications and/or journalism; financial services experience is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Experience developing and implementing communications programs and proven ability to execute
  • Self-starter, innovative and independent with strong follow-through skills
  • High levels of discretion and sound judgment
  • Ability to juggle multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Team player and highly collaborative; willing to jump in and support when needed
  • Executive presence and experience working with senior leadership


Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required


Position-specific Technical Requirements

  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
