Job Description

The Cardiac Diagnostic Manager contributes to the efficient operation of the department, promotes the BHC philosophy and ensures quality and continuity of patient care. This position is responsible for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of non-invasive cardiology and neurodiagnostics division. This position gives direction and supervises over clinical nursing, patient care, and the operational aspects of non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostic and neurodiagnostics. The Cardiac Diagnostic Manager is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the departments by ensuring service operation, personnel management, resource allocation, and control in order to support and enhance patient care. This position is responsible for assuring the orientation, training, evaluation and specific job duties of the team members of the non-invasive cardiology. This position performs all duties relating to the efficiency of the department. This position is responsible for decision-making as related to patient care, human resource, and financial management and has responsibility for the associated operations in assigned areas. This person demonstrates superior communication skills with all internal and external customers and exhibits a high degree of integrity, a solid character, and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the divisional director in the development, implementation and evaluation of ongoing service programs that ensure quality nursing and patient care programs consistent with the hospital's mission.
  • Monitors/maintains unit compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policy for patient services and environmental and personnel safety.
  • Oversees unit QI program, which monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care.
  • Maintains current license and knowledge of patient care requirements for all patients on the unit. Assesses need for personal growth and development and takes the initiative in seeking opportunities to meet this need.
  • Fosters a service, which is consistent with the patient care beliefs and shared management philosophy of the department.
  • Consults with patients/families as requested. Assesses patients/significant others survey responses regarding patient care and services.
  • Responsible for ongoing development of staff and unit-specific patient care programs.
  • Is responsible for department's operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Manage team members which include orientation, development and evaluation of personnel, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services. Participates in the recruiting, interviewing and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws. Evaluates their performance relative to job goals and requirements. Provides coaching to staff, recommends in-service education programs, and ensures adherence to internal policies and standards.
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient fiscal management of department operations to ensure proper utilization of organizational and financial resources.
  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff.
  • Must be available for on call assignments, as needed.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
  • May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Health Care Required

Minimum Work Experience

  • 2 years previous experience in cardiology Required
  • previous leadership experience Required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact license Upon Hire Required or
  • Certified Radiology Technologist Licensed State of Florida Upon Hire Required or
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS_CCI) State of Florida Upon Hire Required
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS_ARC) American Heart Association, if an RN Upon Hire Required

Required Skills, Knowledge And Abilities

  • Demonstrated clinical competence in relevant area of diagnostic cardiovascular procedures.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and potential managerial competency.
  • Evidence of this includes, but is not limited to, effective communication skills, ability to deal well with people, problem solve, confront/resolve issues, and motivate other, ability to plan, organizes, and directs the activities of others.
  • Knowledge of human resources management, imaging department operation, fiscal management skills, and familiarity with regulatory and accrediting agency standards required.
