About LOVB (League One Volleyball):

Launched in 2019, LOVB (pronounced “love”) seeks to reimagine the sport of volleyball. Our mission is to champion the sport - and everyone who plays it - in unprecedented ways. Today, we have the largest footprint of youth clubs in the country and are launching our pro league at the end of 2024.

It is a groundbreaking time for volleyball, with the US defending with our historic triple Olympic Gold medals in Women's Indoor, Beach and Sitting Volleyball. Volleyball is the #1 most played girls' youth team sport and there are 38M current and former players in the country today, but the volleyball market has been almost entirely missed by traditional sports investors, brands and media.

LOVB is capturing this opportunity through our strong youth club business and building our pro league from the grassroots-up. This community-up approach is driving participation and fandom, while enabling greater empowerment for girls and young women participating in this sport.

The Role:

We are seeking a Manager, Broadcast Production for our Pro League. This person will be responsible for delivering robust, brand-centric and beautiful broadcast productions of League One Volleyball’s professional league. You are the key person in the organization ensuring the broadcast production comes out as planned by working directly with LOVB’s internal constituents, LOVB’s selected production vendor(s) and (as necessary) LOVB’s domestic and international media distribution partners to deliver against LOVB’s vision for our streaming and telecast productions. Manage vendor partnership(s), provide feedback and direction to vendor(s), manage future broadcast production vendor RFP / selection process. This person will work closely with the Head of Pro Marketing, Head of Partnerships, Head of Commercial, Team Marketing and Communications staff, Director of Fan Experience, Venues Team, Head of Ticketing and Media Manager. There is supervisory experience for Broadcast Production Vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for broadcast experience from creativity and storytelling to creation of graphics to managing production vendors, timelines, and budget. Use creative thinking and a visionary approach to incorporate new ideas, technology, etc. within LOVB’s productions.
  • Work closely with internal LOVB constituents to gather creative direction (marketing and brand) and ensure needs of partnerships, marketing, fan experience, are fully met and communicated to the broadcast production vendors and team.
  • Own management of LOVB’s selected broadcast production vendors/partners.
  • Liaise with commercial and operations teams and distribution partners to confirm, and manage subsequent changes to, match broadcast schedules.
  • Deliver all productions within budget and ensure that broadcast production partner budget management is top notch, avoiding unanticipated expenses wherever possible.
  • Create deeply detailed timelines and work back plans to ensure each broadcast is complete and includes all necessary input.
  • Define physical space requirements and work with Venues and Ticketing Teams to ensure productions can occur as planned and that physical space is made available in each venue.
  • Develop and evolve broadcast production over the course of the season by soliciting internal and external feedback, and implementing a regular review and improvement process.
  • Work with production company to ensure ROS follows desired format and that all elements reflect internal and distribution partner needs including evergreen content, commercial elements and ad inventory in game, etc.
  • Work with LOVB’s media team to ensure all requirements for signal delivery to partners are met by production vendors/partners.
  • Evaluate ongoing performance of production vendors/partners; develop selection criteria and solicit, evaluate, and manage selection of future production vendors/partners.


Background & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in broadcast production, production management, sports documentaries development and production, or similar areas.
  • 2+ years of supervisory/management experience, preferably in the field
  • Deep understanding of how sports television and streaming broadcasts are created, shot, produced and transmitted.
  • Knowledge of the sport of volleyball is desired.
  • A curious and creative mindset to support the development of the next generation of broadcasts.
  • A clear and friendly communication style with strong listening skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders and proven success at building excellent working relationships; poise and maturity in relationship building a necessity.
  • Must be a positive, proactive, think outside the box, and organized team player.
  • Strong ability to think strategically and execute.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as ability to collaborate closely with a team that is distributed remotely.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize appropriately and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal guidance.


Location

  • Remote with significant travel. Preference given to candidates located in a LOVB Pro City (Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Madison, Omaha, Salt Lake.)
  • Reports to the Vice President, Events & Operations based in Denver, CO.

The annual base salary for this role is $80,000-100,000, plus our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level, among other things.
