How You’ll Make An Impact

The Manager, Broadcast Control Center (BCC), has the on-shift, on-site responsibility for overseeing process control for effective operation of the SXM content creation and delivery systems. The BCC Manager is the point of contact for all Broadcast Operations teams to report issues and status, overseeing ticketing, dispatches, change management processes, and escalations when required. The BCC will interface with Programming Operations, technical subject matter experts (SMEs), third party content providers, Facilities Management for issues such as building power, HVAC, fire alarms, and security, and all the other operations centers across SiriusXM to ensure proper service delivery and business continuity. This position will work the mid shift from 1pm to 11pm (Wednesday through Saturday).

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and properly escalate issues reported by the Broadcast Operations Centers, Network Operations Center, and maintenance teams across all SXM sites.
  • Promptly evaluate issue severity and determine when to initiate a call-out, following escalation protocol for major service-affecting incidents.
  • Ensure Incident Tickets submitted by other groups are compliant with SOPs, properly routed and escalated.
  • Ability to execute Disaster Recovery (Business Continuity) sequence of events.
  • Initiate the RCA process for post-mortem of major incidents.
  • Monitor and facilitate Change Management Process for work occurring on major systems.
  • Escalate building systems alerts and failures to critical systems teams.
  • Oversee process adherence for groups involved with premiere high profile live events.
  • Ensure Content Takeovers and Bandwidth Preemptions are executed following process.
  • Processing and routing of Same-Day Schedule Changes to ensure proper execution.
  • Interface with other departments such as Programming and Media Engineering, Systems Engineering, National Repeater Control Center and PSO as required.
  • Handle calls for Live Studio support and dispatch technicians appropriately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

  • 8 or more years’ experience in operations or master control supervision at a major market NOC facility or broadcast network
  • Experience in technical operation and the supervision of technical staff and interface with non-technical operators.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Support 24/7 operations center, shift work is mandatory
  • Good public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
  • Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to “internal client” and customer service principles.
  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.
  • Creative writing ability.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Familiarity with digital audio signals, routing, quality control and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with master control automation systems and uplink management systems
  • Familiarity with broadcast engineering standards, practices, and terminology
  • Familiarity with satellite uplinking practices and terminology
  • User knowledge of Microsoft operating system
  • Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and GSuite.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow ticketing systems a plus
  • Familiarity with SolarWinds monitoring system is a plus.
  • Familiarity with OpsGenie monitoring system a plus.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $103,300 to $116,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
