Position Summary Description
The school maintenance worker is a position in the facilities department providing high-quality and effective preventative maintenance, repair, and general custodial services to all building equipment, academic spaces, and offices. This person will be part of a team with responsibilities both on the School campus and off site locations owned or leased by the School. This job typically works Monday through Friday, however there are occasional evening and weekend duties. In addition, this position will work with other departments including but not limited to the grounds team and events team. This position reports to the Facilities Team Manager.
Essential Functions And Specific Duties
Perform repairs and preventive maintenance procedures on and off campus, grounds, equipment and systems, as assigned
Perform light electrical repairs including but not excluded to replacement of plugs, switches, ballasts and light bulbs:
Install, maintain, and repair a variety of plumbing fixtures and fittings including but not excluded to sinks, toilets, faucets and related equipment, repairs leaks and stoppages;
Repair and replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment including but not limited to pool equipment, motors, pumps and kitchen equipment;
Effectively troubleshoot electrical, plumbing and other facilities issues, and repair or assist in performing repairs as directed;
Repair plaster and drywall, paint interior and exterior surfaces, and assist with other renovation or remodeling work including basic carpentry;
Install, repair or replace doors, door locks, closers and panic hardware; cuts keys as requested;
Respond to and repair facility emergencies including roof leaks and restroom overflows;
Respond to and accurately and efficiently complete all work orders and requests in a safe and timely manner
Update all service requests, periodic maintenance and checklists in the work order system both during the repair and when the repair is completed
Perform light pool maintenance including changing light bulbs, calibrating water analyzer, testing water sample, and adding chemicals as needed
Assist with setting up and take down for various campus events including evenings and Saturday’s;
Attend weekly team meetings to review upcoming calendar, and attend school functions as needed;
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area;
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
At least 3 year of related experience in construction or facility maintenance
Basic computer skills and experience with software as related to facility management. E.g. Google Suite, School Dude, and other applicable software
Flexibility with the special needs associated with an academic calendar
Must be available for occasional evening and weekend meetings and events
Ability to cooperatively work with other team members as well as independently
Ability to courteously interact with all school constituencies
