Job Description Summary

The Admissions Counselor will be responsible for handling the conversion of prospective students into Liberty University Online Academy (LUOA) and aid them through the admissions process to matriculation. Annually, thousands of applications are received, and many more prospective students are contacted by marketing pieces and outbound emails and phone calls. Our expectation that each family remembers their experiences with great clarity and enthusiasm should come back to us by word of mouth when the next applicant tells us they hear LUOA really makes a person feel welcome through the entire enrollment process. Liberty University Online Academy continues to leverage technology to help with student enrollment conversions. A dialer, telephones, and Banner student information system represent some of the tools the candidate should understand and enjoy managing. Admissions Counselors utilize this technology, and a significant amount of time will be spent on this conversion model each day. A phone center background would assist the transition to the expectations we will have of this professional.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Develop a group of applicants for the purpose of converting to enrolled students.
  • Handle large number of phone calls and e-mails each day from applicants/inquiries who have requested information.
  • Answer questions of a complex nature regarding LUOA admissions, academic policies, and curriculum structure.
  • Counsel applicants on admission requirements, placement test scores and high school transcript evaluations.
  • Operate the management systems to perform and record contacts.
  • Register new applicants for initial courses of study explaining all necessary financial information for student to access curriculum.
  • Trouble shoot issues that arise with the Online Academy.
  • Direct parents and students to appropriate resources and offer direction and assistance to students preparing to begin their coursework.
  • Act as a liaison between student/parents and faculty (when necessary) and students/parents and administration.
  • Facilitate enrollment meeting with family.
  • Act as a liaison between parents and academic advisers at the initial enrollment stage.


Qualifications, Credentials, And Competencies

A background in sales or customer acquisition and progress towards college degree preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Ability to take initiative, adapt to change, work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task. Effective communication both verbally and in writing. Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Strong organizational and computer skills. Regularly required to lift 10 or fewer pounds. Must be able to work shifts scheduled within the hours of 9am-6pm. Saturday and Sunday, with occasional overtime.
