Description
The Logistics Engineer will design and/or analyze operational solutions for projects such as transportation optimization, network modeling, process and methods analysis, cost containment, capacity enhancement, routing and shipment optimization, and information management. The Logistics Engineer is responsible for all future facilities and logistics processes. He/She leads and manages key activities in the development and deployment activities inclusive to new RFI/RFP/ROI, new ramps from won RFP’s, continuous improvement and customer enhancement or cost based initiatives, as well as in support of daily site/technical operational enhancement projects. The LE will develop logistic metrics, internal analysis tools, or key performance indicators for business units. Conduct logistics studies or analyses, such as time studies, zero-base analyses, rate analyses, network analyses, flow-path analyses, or supply chain analyses. The Logistics Engineer creates and maintains positive relationships with the internal and external stakeholders of the business in order to establish a consumer-focused culture. The Logistics Engineer is responsible for the technical and engineering focused areas of involvement for supply chain, ground, air, seaway, last mile, warehousing, logistics processes, and systems to integrate to those areas

Primary Tasks
Leadership/Supervisory Role: own the entire logistical landscape design and output.
- In charge of the interface to management and the execution of site/process, automation, standardization, operational procedures, project plans, and delivery commitments.
- Lead the development teams with a focus on logistics technologies and processes.
- Oversee the management of technical integrations and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Team building as well as provide technical leadership for the design and implementation of features and site process, equipment and system enhancements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain siter engineering standards and policies
- Function as a mentor to key development personnel and potential customers, assisting in the execution of duties upon request, and readying these key personnel for the occupation of this position
- Develop and implement engineering strategies meant for the development of technological tools and processes required for current and future site development
- Organize activities for the development, implementation, release, and maintenance of projects necessary for site development, deployment, and sustenance.
- Perform engineering design evaluations and ensure the completion of site technical projects within resource, budget, and scheduling restraints
- Coordinate and communicate development activities and priorities with the senior leadership in order to ensure the successful completion of project objectives
- Help the junior development teams in building new products and features from the early phases of site development to completion
- Knowledge: Take initiative to explore, evangelize, and implement innovative technologies within the business in order to improve the business’s internal platforms as well as customer experience
- Provide support and leadership to development departments, facilitating continuous evolution in both the frontend and backend development teams
- Follow up on business procedures, policies, and associated tools in order to develop processes that are more efficient and ensure conformity with the business’s policies and overall objectives
- Perform similar duties as he/she deems fit for the proper execution of his/her duties and duties as delegated
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
- Engineering degree strongly preferred
- MBA is preferred
- At least 3 years of working experience in a technical role preferably in Supply Chain, logistics, or warehousing in global entities with strong North American solutions
- Must have a proven and successful record leading medium to large scale logistics transformation projects, Xdocks, Multi-sites, working in wide ranges of markets and environments
- Must have experience working with various automation technologies and consumer site/program development
- Aptitude for data analysis
- Team management skills
- Engineering and technical knowledge, preferable in logistics
- Understanding of engineering practices and procedures
- Basic user abilities in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and instructions
- Ability to present information to Senior level, clients, suppliers, peers, and employees
- Ability to learn and work with different toolsets and systems as well as identify requirements
- Ability to help in the analysis for all Operational paperwork instructions and procedures
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent math skills
- Problem solving ability
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Communication skills will be especially important in his leadership position, where clear conveyance of instructions and information down the line to junior development departments will play a significant role in determining the overall performance of the development engineering department.
