Join our client, a premier wholesale distributor catering to the diverse needs of food, equipment, and supplies for independent grocery retailers and foodservice operators across the U.S. They are on the lookout for a dynamic and technically savvy Logistics Director to steer their logistics operations and contribute to the expansion of their robust network.

The Logistics Director will lead a dedicated team, drive innovation in logistics practices, and uphold efficiency in the company’s supply chain operations. This role involves strategic planning, performance monitoring, data analysis, and process optimization to enhance logistics efficiency and reduce operational costs.

Focus:

  • Lead and mentor a team of approximately 15 logistics professionals, overseeing training and performance.
  • Employ an entrepreneurial mindset to foster continuous improvement and innovation in logistics operations.
  • Cultivate internal and external partnerships to develop and refine operational practices.
  • Design and implement strategies for data collection, analysis, and logistics reporting.
  • Tackle supply chain inefficiencies, strategizing and executing practical solutions to improve lane and vendor performance.
  • Monitor and report on logistics performance, setting and achieving benchmarks and targets.
  • Address supply chain issues by implementing data-driven solutions and showcasing results.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to assess logistics cost implications and streamline cost management.
  • Champion cost-saving initiatives to enhance transportation models and overall operational cost efficiency.
  • Manage the development of process optimizations and project ideation to boost departmental performance.
  • Oversee the generation of critical logistics reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

Skill Set:

  • Proven experience in logistics, supply chain, or a closely related field.
  • Background in financial, business, data analysis, or supply chain analysis is highly regarded.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing teams, crafting standard operating procedures, and ensuring effective communication across various organizational departments.
  • Skilled in quantitative reporting, including report development and maintenance.
  • Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal.
