This position is responsible for providing critical legal support to the Personal Injury Team. This individual will assist in a variety of ways, some of which are detailed below.
Assist with contacting prospective clients, including collecting initial case details for attorneys to assess the case
Sending out new client contacts and follow-up
Opening new client matters in Filevine
Filing court documents
Assist paralegals with following up on various items, including, but not limited to, signed court documents, documents or communications from clients, etc
Assist with case development by ordering and following up on pertinent records
Scheduling/Calendaring various events and notifying appropriate parties, including but not limited to mediation, hearings, attorney or paralegal client meetings, etc
Scheduling and coordinating travel arrangements
Responsible for following all processes and procedures in the firm’s case management software and documents/ledgers for all activities in the case management software
Responsible for incoming/outgoing mail and faxes
Responsible for documenting all expenses in client matters
Scan all documents and upload them to client files
Shredding
Closing matters and hard files
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
A college degree and/or Paralegal Certificate is preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to build rapport with employees, clients, and court representatives and work within a team
Experience with Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat
At least 3+ years of litigation assistant experience, preferably in the Personal Injury Practice area
