This position reports to the Director of Broadcast Services and is responsible for managing and operating all aspects of Arena Lighting System, including the arena bowl special effect & House LED lighting systems, the East Plaza performance lighting systems, future arena lighting systems and assist with off-site Miami HEAT events as needed. This position is also responsible for assisting the Director of Broadcast Services with the day to day activities of the Broadcast Services department. Additionally, this position will assist with the maintenance and repair of all Arena Sound, Video, Digital Signage, and LED system equipment. Skills Experience: Must possess technical and operational knowledge of basic audio/visual systems. Work experience and/or special equipment training within the Live Event production industry preferred. Must have basic computer skills and know how to operate Mac and/or Windows based applications like Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be able to write reports, respond to email, and create documents that may relate to a specific project or task.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list.

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, programming and operating all arena event lighting systems and controls.
  • Directly supervise arena (full-time or part-time) staff that operate any of the arena’s lighting systems.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Division to program lighting designs that support marketing campaigns/themes, including attending marketing/creative meetings, productions meetings, etc.
  • Work directly with arena engineering staff to ensure all house and sports lights are functioning properly.
  • Responsible for maintaining artistic integrity of arena lighting designs.
  • Involvement in the departmental process of purchasing and/or rental all lighting equipment expendables according to specific production and departmental needs within budgets limits.
  • Responsible for maintaining all lighting equipment inventories and all required servicing.
  • Attend production meetings and technical/dress rehearsals, and other team meetings as required.
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Assist all division with projects as requested, as needed.

Education And/or Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in performance theatre lighting and supervision.
  • Skilled in basic M/S office software, and production software (Vectorworks, AutoCAD, and Madrix, etc.).
  • Light board programming skills required of various system manufacturers and DMX Control Universe.
  • Operational Knowledge of various lighting control consoles: Onyx, Grand MA, Elation Hog4, Martin M1-M6, High End Systems, ETC consoles.
  • Ability to operate and service all types of theatrical lighting equipment and systems, Chauvet, Elation, Martin, Robe, Clay Paky, Vari*Lite
  • Knowledge of safe practices regarding fundamental rigging, theatrical electricity and theatrical video technologies, Laser and Pyrotechnics systems.
  • Knowledge of network-based lighting and image projections systems.
  • Must be able to obtain valid driver’s license.

  • Knowledge of standard theatrical electrical and projections equipment, including atmospherics, as well as maintaining knowledge of advancements in lighting and projections technologies, techniques, and practices.

  • Able to uphold a tone of collaboration, respect, optimism and professionalism, both internally and externally, while maintain composure in a fast-paced setting.
