Company Description: NAMI San Diego & Imperial Counties (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a nonprofit organization that provides free education, support services, and advocacy to improve the quality of life of everyone affected by mental illnesses. Primary Responsibilities/Function: You will be a key member of the Youth Mental Health Innovation team, which is comprised of two Licensed Clinicians and the Department Director. The Youth Mental Health Innovation Project offers Mental Health Awareness presentations, support groups, and outreach at-risk youth in Central San Diego County. This program will provide accessible and comprehensive support groups to youths aged 14-26 in San Diego, CA outside of school learning time and beyond the traditional 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekday schedule, in addition to mental health presentations and outreach activities. This is a part-time position, 12 hours per week. Typical work hours may vary and will include traditional business hours with some evenings and weekends as well. Duties and Responsibilities: Work collaboratively in a teamwork style with demonstrated ability to relate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. In collaboration with fellow team member, facilitate 8-10 monthly support groups for youth aged 14-26 in San Diego, CA outside of school learning time and beyond the traditional 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekday schedule. In collaboration with fellow team member and volunteers, make at least 10 Mental Health 101/NAMI presentations to local community organizations, schools or faith communities in San Diego that includes information about how youth aged 14-26 can join the after-hours support groups. In collaboration with fellow team member and volunteers, staff between 6-12 resource tables each year that include information about how youth aged 14-26 can join the after-hours support groups. Track program activities and support progress report development for funder. Apprise Department Director of project statuses and needs. Other duties as assigned. Accountability: Reports to Director of Community & Youth Services. Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Minimum Requirements, including linguistic and cultural skills, education, experiences, licenses and certifications: Must be a licensed clinician (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or Psychologist). Must have a satisfactory driving record. Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Basic knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel) and web navigation. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. Reliable and consistent attendance. Due to our work with vulnerable populations and county contractor requirements, applicants will be required to undergo a background check following a contingent offer of employment and must receive satisfactory results prior to a final offer of employment.
