JOB SUMMARY:

Analyzes, develops, and implements technical support requirements to address IT needs of the Libraries' end users. Diagnoses and resolves issues in response to customer reported incidents and ensures a timely response. Ensures data integrity and secure access to the Libraries' various technologies and resources. Writes, reviews, and updates support and help documentation. Hires, trains, and supervises student employees. Reports to the Libraries' IT Manager I. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

40% - Essential - Technical Support:

Analyzes, develops, and implements technical support requirements to address the broad IT needs of Libraries' employees and users. Installs, configures, and troubleshoots highly complex issues with end user hardware and university/libraries software systems. Assists with identifying, diagnosing, and troubleshooting technology infrastructure issues. Directs support for the Libraries' audiovisual technologies in public areas, study rooms, and meeting rooms.

40% - Essential - Customer Support:

Diagnoses and resolves issues in response to customer reported incidents. Ensures timely response to urgent customer needs and maintains accurate status information in the service management software. Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains hardware and software for end users. Ensures rigorous application of information security policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of customer support services. Designs, implements, and maintains solutions for improving workflows and accountability tracking for customers and departmental employees.

10% - Essential - Data Integrity and Server Administration:

Actively monitors and maintains the data integrity of end user technologies and resources in the Libraries. Acts as backup server administrator to storage and remote authentication servers. Provides support in the installation of complex servers for use by employees and students. Diagnoses user login and access issues in a timely manner according to established procedures.

10% - Essential - Documentation and Supervision:

Writes, reviews, and updates support and help documentation. Documents procedures, workflows, and other critical information about technology implementations. Tracks equipment inventory in the hardware asset management system. Hires, trains, and supervises student employees. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - High School or Equivalent - and experience in office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing, or processing of information in a data processing environment or related systems. A degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree - Computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering, or a similar area of study.

Work Experience - 2+ years experience with IT technical support, IT customer service or help desk operations, server maintenance, and/or support of audiovisual equipment and implementations. Previous supervisory experience is desired.

5% - Extends hands or arms in any direction

50% - Perceive, observe, clarity of vision

WORKING CONDITIONS:

5% - Exposure to heat or cold

5% - Exposure to dust/fumes

5% - Overnight Travel

10% - Noise

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hours: 37.5

Compensation Information

Anticipated Hiring Range: $45,500.00 - $62,000.00

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Essential Personnel Level

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
