Position Summary: The LGBTQIA+ Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing programs and initiatives that support and empower the LGBTQIA+ community. This role involves coordinating events, workshops, and resources to foster a safe, inclusive, and affirming environment. The coordinator will work closely with community partners, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure that the needs of LGBTQIA+ individuals are met and that awareness and understanding are promoted within the organization and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities:

1.   Program Development and Implementation:

·        Design, implement, and manage programs and initiatives that support LGBTQIA+ individuals.

·        Plan and coordinate events, workshops, and training sessions to promote awareness, education, and advocacy.

·        Collaborate with community partners and organizations to enhance program offerings and resources.


2.   Community Engagement and Support:

·        Serve as a point of contact for LGBTQIA+ individuals seeking support and resources.

·        Develop and maintain relationships with local LGBTQIA+ organizations, groups, and advocates.

·        Facilitate support groups and discussion forums for LGBTQIA+ individuals.

·        Work with program staff to develop all advertising, marketing, and press for LGBTQIA+ services, especially regarding special events and awareness days for both the HIV population and the LGBTQIA+ population.


3.   Advocacy and Education:

·        Promote awareness and understanding of LGBTQIA+ issues within the organization and the community.

·        Provide training and educational resources to staff, volunteers, and community members.

·        Advocate for policies and practices that promote inclusivity and equity for LGBTQIA+ individuals.


4.   Resource Management:

·        Develop and distribute informational materials and resources related to LGBTQIA+ issues.

·        Maintain a resource library and ensure materials are up-to-date and accessible.

·        Manage program budgets and resources effectively.


5.   Data Collection and Reporting:

·        Collect and analyze data on program outcomes and participant feedback.

·        Prepare and present reports on program activities, successes, and areas for improvement.

·        Use data to inform program development and improvement.


6.   Collaboration and Networking:

·        Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and meetings.

7.   Donor Cultivation, Relations, Fundraising and Stewardship:

·        Identify, secure and cultivate donors and corporate sponsors related to LGBTQIA+ services.

·        Maintain accurate records of donor contacts and donations received in donor management software.

·        Provide acknowledgment correspondence for donations within 5 business days of receipt of donation.

·        Assist in the development, coordination, planning and evaluation of all fundraising efforts in expansion of LGBTQIA+ services.


Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, public health, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

·        Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in program coordination, community outreach, or a related role.

·        Strong understanding of LGBTQIA+ issues, challenges, and resources.

·        Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

·        Experience in event planning and public speaking.

·        Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with social media platforms.

·        Knowledge of grant writing and fundraising


Preferred Qualifications:

·        Master’s degree in a related field.

·        Experience working with LGBTQIA+ organizations or in a similar capacity.

·        Bilingual or multilingual skills.

Work Environment:

·        Office setting with some local travel required.

·        Occasional evening and weekend work for events and meetings.
