Coordinates departmental services and facility security during evenings and/or weekends including supervising front desk services and Student Assistants. Provides excellent customer service at the Lending Services Desk and general information to Faculty, Staff, and Students. Assists all types of Library users with general research information. This position is a Grade: 7 - 37.5 with an approximate salary range of $36,090-$43,330 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications

1. Coordinates departmental services and facility security during evenings and/or weekends including supervising front desk services and Student Assistants.

• Provides front desk coverage and/or supervises student desk attendant.

• Performs regular security and condition checks of all public areas of the Library.

• Resolves and problems with patron access, building condition, and/or team workflow; refers unresolved issues to Manager

• Reserves classrooms and study rooms for use by students and researchers.

• Ensures rooms are locked and in good condition after events.

• Occasional opening/closing of the library and securing of facility.

• Maintain good physical order in the Reading Room and stacks areas.

• Communicates regularly with the Manager regarding workflow and continuity of services.


2. Provides excellent customer service at the Lending Services Desk including directing, assisting and/or instructing researchers on the use of Library resources and services. Utilizes Library applications (FOLIO, ILLiad, Palci E-ZBorrow, ASA) to locate and circulate Library resources and updates records appropriately.

• Provides regular coverage at Lending Service Desk including directing, assisting and/or instructing users on the use of Library resources and services.

• Applies and interprets Library procedures and policies to troubleshoot any service issues.

• Utilizes Library applications (FOLIO, ILLiad, Palci E-ZBorrow, ASA) to locate and circulate Library resources and updates records appropriately.

• Trains and supervises student assistants in basic circulation and front desk functions.

• Assesses work load and assigns student assistants as needed to other office or stack duties.

• Provides assistance in troubleshooting problems with library accounts, user complaints, equipment malfunctions, and facility problems.

• Resolves problems with user accounts including collecting or waiving fines.


3. Coordinate interlibrary loan activities through the Palci EZ-Borrow, ILLiad and RapidILL systems in support of Lehigh researchers. Ship and receive materials to other colleges and universities using electronic delivery or physical mail as requested.

• Receives and processes requests for ILL/document delivery from multiple sources including Palci EZ-Borrow, ILLiad, and RapidILL

• Supervises student assistants in processing and filling requests.

• Coordinates with team members regarding ILL activities to assure good continuity of services.

• Communicates regularly with team Manager regarding workflow and continuity of services


4. Provides general information to Faculty, Staff and Students. Assists all types of Library users with general research information.

• Assists users with general questions and problems or refer the unresolved questions to the Fairchild Martindale Help Desk.

• Assists users with facility or equipment problems.

• Coordinate with Help Desk trainer to complete training and maintain knowledge objectives.

• Use Jira to place and track requests for services from other appropriate LTS support staff.

• Communicates regularly with the Manager regarding activities relating to reference and computing questions.


5. Special Projects and Professional Development

• Participate on LTS or University committees

• Participate in continual professional development: attend conferences, Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges (LVAIC) meetings, LTS seminars, HR workshops, webinars and Linkedin and other professional development opportunities

• Learn new technologies, new software, new technical skills and share this knowledge with others on the team

• Assist with meeting strategic goals of LTS and take part in Diversity, Inclusion and Equity initiatives in LTS and at the University

Qualifications


• High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree in Library Sciences preferred

• One to three years related work experience

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Good decision-making skills


Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
