About The Role

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Legal Counsel will assist with all aspects of our company’s contract management and provide support for all relevant legal issues. This role is a critical part of our small but mighty Legal Team and is instrumental in defining and delivering the next generation of ButcherBox legal experience. The ideal candidate will display legal expertise, as well as communication and problem-solving skills, and a curiosity that drives you to go above and beyond to solve problems for your stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Work with the ButcherBox business to draft, negotiate, and manage a large variety of contracts including but not limited to confidentiality agreements, SaaS agreements, services agreements, license agreements, and consulting agreements
• Provide support to the relevant business units on the contracts processes to ensure that approvals and contract requirements are met, and to ensure that the business continues moving forward
• Work with individuals across all of the ButcherBox departments to develop a system for the company’s procurement process
• Collaborate with business stakeholders including but not limited to marketing, supply chain operations, data, IT, HR, and finance
• Work collaboratively with the Marketing team to review collateral for all streams of media
• Participate in the annual strategic process of creating department goals (OKRs) and support implementation
• Participate in fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment
  
  

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an ABA accredited law school and admission to at least one U.S. state bar
• 4+ years’ experience in a law firm or in-house legal department; combination of law firm and in-house experience is a plus
• Excellent analytical ability and professional judgment; experience balancing business needs and potential compliance risks
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organization skills – ability to maintain standardized forms, templates, and the contract database, and update and improve them as needed
• Comfort with pushing ButcherBox stakeholders, as well as suppliers and vendors to hold them accountable on pricing, business terms, legal terms, etc.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize independently
• Experience in procurement strongly preferred
• Experience in food law strongly preferred
