Key Responsibilities
File Management:
Drafting pleadings, correspondence, and discovery documentation
Managing confidential legal documentation and correspondence
Organizing and maintaining documents in paper and electronic filing systems
Providing support to attorneys to enhance case effectiveness
Preparing for trials by organizing exhibits and assisting with related tasks
Demonstrating excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Time And Calendar Management
Scheduling client appointments, hearings (phone, video, and in-person)
Docketing timelines and due dates
Maintaining attorney calendars, checking for conflicts, and notifying clients
Proactively managing deadlines and keeping attorneys informed
Professional Communication
Possessing excellent grammar, proofreading, and organizational skills
Demonstrating strong verbal and written communication with attorneys, clients, and staff
Familiarity with legal procedures, protocols, and the court system
Handling sensitive and confidential information with utmost discretion
Team Collaboration
Working well independently and as part of a team
Completing tasks in a timely and professional manner
Knowledge of day-to-day operations in a legal office
Ability to manage multiple activities and work under pressure
Technical Expertise
Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, including asset/liability sheets)
Experience with e-filing and general filing procedures
Skilled in using legal research tools and case management software
Familiarity with family law procedures, legal terminology, and court rules
Clio experience is preferred
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal in a litigation firm
Prior experience in Family Law is a significant advantage
Paralegal certification from an accredited institution is preferred but not required
